Pet Care

East Lansing Veterinary Clinic
1880 Haslett Rd, East LansingDr. Howe and the rest of the team at ELVC are THE BEST. They’re caring and compassionate and provide excellent veterinary services for four-legged family member. There is no better recommendation we can give other than entrusting our dog's health and welfare to ELVC.

Center for Feline Health & Well-Being
736 Wilson Rd, East Lansing10? The primary care for MSU Veterinary is absolutely amazing! I have one dog who must wear a muzzle and is very nervous around new people. The staff was so patient with her, and took her feelings into account. Dr. Emery and their nurses were so amazing! I have another dog who is a hound who is very noisy and sniffs a lot, and she did perfect with the staff. She was licking them while they gave her a vaccine and everything. They are truly the best who looks out for their patients and clients. I had to put a dog down last year there during Covid and they were so compassionate, even the vet who put her down was crying. I will always take my dogs there as they give the best care.

Abbott Road Animal Clinic
6180 Abbot Rd, East LansingTook my dog in to get her an*l glands expressed due to her having chronic issues with it. The team was kind and patient with my dog despite the fact that she is notoriously bad with being handled. I must shout out Jessica for making the whole process as quick and painless for my dog as possible. I don't know what I would do without them. I have other options in terms of vet care but their great care and customer service keeps me coming back. If you want good pet care with kind people who love animals then go to Abbott road.

Michigan State University Veterinary Medical Center
736 Wilson Road, East LansingMy dog was having some trouble so I brought him to MSU from Midland. Great lakes is closer, but even talking to them on the phone they lack empathy and I have heard too many bad stories so I always make the drive to Lansing (always in the evening, and we usually end up staying there for several hours- but for treatment that can't wait until a regular appointment, I am just happy to be able to have my dog seen by competent and caring professionals). He reacted poorly to new people and dogs, so they were kind enough to let us use an empty lobby instead of the general one. It ended up he likely had cancer, I can't remember the type but it was described as generally pretty invasive and likely to come back again and again after treatment. The vets and techs were so kind and answered all my questions. He was laid to rest within a couple weeks of his visit, but I am grateful to MSU emergency vets, techs, and front desk staff for the compassion they showed me and my boy.

Pet-Friendly Restaurants

TOASTE
1385 E Grand River Ave, East LansingThis is my favorite cafe in East Lansing & Lansing! I was hesitant at first because of the price, but realized it’s worth it. The ingredients are fresh and all dishes taste amazing! ❤️ Their toasts/sandwiches come with pickles or sour carrot salad so I’ve been craving this so many times during my pregnancy! I usually don’t ask favors at restaurants but ended up asking for more salad and they were generous with the amount! ? I really hope this cafe stays for a long time. It’s rare to find not too greasy, fresh sandwiches in town! My favorite menu is their BLT sandwich, mushroom soup, and banana Toast, and I like their iced coffee menu.

YumYum Bento
1017 E Grand River Ave, East LansingThe first time I ate at YumYum Bento was in August 2024, right about when the students moved back to MSU Campus. The eatery is decorated in a nice, clean white and bamboo tan aesthetic, with a hefty amount of kawai thrown in. Their menu is a nice mixture of different Asian cuisines - Japanese, Korean, and Thai. The first thing I had to try was the spring rolls - fresh, crisp, and delicious. The main entree that even was the Kalbi - nicely prepared, great flavor, and the kimchi goes well with it. I believe I had to get another serving of rice (as I like a lot of rice with my Kalbi). Jump forward to earlier today (January 6, 2026) and I tried the Bulgogi, which actually had slices of carrot and zucchini along with the requisite onion. Again could have sprung for another serving of rice, but I made the one serving last the whole meal. Wonderful garlicy sauce. And the vegetables were a plus to the meal. Both visits, the staff was very friendly. Next time, I should actually try their Bento boxes and boba tea.

Square One Breakfast & Bakery
4790 Hagadorn Rd Ste 110, East LansingFound this spot on Yelp after a trip to Delphi to stock up on glass. What a great spot! Had the Biscuits & Gravy as a Yelper had recommended. Outstanding! Both homemade. The biscuit, crispy outside, buttery, with a nice crumb. The gravy, rich with chunks of sausage. Eggs cooked as ordered, and the potatoes (also covered in gravy) were crunchy. Excellent coffee, too!Executed about as well as it could be. Will definitely be back when I'm in the area. If you're hungry for a great spot, this is the place.

Buddies Pub & Grill
3048 E Lake Lansing Rd, East LansingNice little place, I went there on a weekday afternoon for lunch and got a bacon cheeseburger with fries and a glass of water. It was relatively quiet then and had natural light coming in through the windows. For the breakdown of the stars, the food was good but I feel $17 for a burger and fries with no soda drink is a bit high but it is on par in suppose with many places nowadays...but at least dont charge me for the ranch with my fries when ketchup for my burger is free... Service was excellent server Alex was attentive even if I was one of the only people there at a weird time of day. Atmosphere was great with big t.v.s everywhere, Olympic hockey was on when I was there. There are plenty of height chairs for kids, but the men's bathroom doesn't have a changing station for dad's without a woman in their lives. Small critiques to be sure but can add up. Would eat there again. Prettier on the inside than the exterior let's on.

Side Bar East Lansing
246 E Saginaw St, East LansingNice place with recently raised prices. I don't drink so can't comment on liquor prices, but probably high. Almost everything a la carte now. Menu changed, too, so prices could be raised. Believe the restaurant was recently sold. Would not go there for dinner anymore.

Ellison Brewery and Spirits
4903 Dawn Ave, East LansingWhile recently visiting the East Lansing area, we chose to see what Ellison Brewery had to offer. Goodness! Were we glad we did! From the moment we took our seats at the bar, the sweet barmaid welcomed us with open arms! There was no doubt we were in a good place! Chiara made sure we sampled all the goodness Ellison had to offer! I enjoy an IPA with hoppiness abounding. Chiara patiently poured samples until I found JUST the right one! We actually mixed a couple to her delight! We decided on the pizza to tempt our palettes. From what we saw on other tables, it looked AWFULLY good! We chose the Supreme, which was just delicious. While eating, we observed Chiara mixing drinks. We did not realize Ellison was also distilling! We had the opportunity to taste the whiskey, and gin. Wow! As I told Chiara, my mama would have heartily approved of the gin! A bottle went home with us! This little brewery was just delightful. As I told the gals behind the counter, they certainly made the experience even better! The brewery is fortunate to have their faces to market their brews! Go experience their delight in what they do! You won't be sad!

Barrio East Lansing
202 Albert St, East LansingThe food is about $25-30 for 2 people as each taco without add ons is about $5, everyone has always been super nice and the food is really good. It has a collage town vibe which isn't bad but it can be loud in the evening. Food has always come out super fast as well.
