“On the whole, credit unions have better rates, and provide better
service, than banks. But even within the field of credit unions, Vibe
stands apart.
I had a home equity loan with another credit union at 10.5%; vibe
assumed that loan at 6.5%. Across 20 years that makes a big difference!
When I asked Vibe if they could refinance this loan, and if I could get
more cash out, they listened, and did everything they could to meet my
needs.
They did not demand an appraisal up front, which would have added weeks
to the process and $600 to the closing costs.
I hate institutions that do that (and most of them do) - because after
you spent the money for the appraisal, they can still say no.
That's $600 flushed down the toilet.
I expect an answer, yes or no, with the terms of the loan, before I
spend a dime - and Vibe is on the same page.
With this in mind, the closing costs were very low, and they were
willing to fold these into the loan.
All I needed to close was my ID and my signature.
I have had home equity loans before, but none were this quick and easy
and inexpensive.
Their auto loans are just as easy.
They don't demand pictures of the car, as other institutions do. (See
my review of One Main Financial for more on this.)
I got my last auto loan from Vibe in four hours, start to finish.
It was all electronic, except for the last step, handing them the
title, which I did at a local branch in 5 minutes.
A month later I got a signature loan in two hours, start to finish.
I picked up the phone at 9:15, and by 11:30 the money was in my account.
It was all electronic; I could have done it without taking any time off
of work.
I don't want to mislead you, if you're not a member the process might
take a little longer, because you have to create an account -
so say two days instead of two hours, that is still pretty darn quick!
And then your next loan, if you need one, is on the fast-track.
This is the most responsive, agile, friendly, helpful, no-nonsense
institution I have had the pleasure to work with.
