Tru by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown is a basic hotel with an excellent location, within walking distance of everything, including restaurants and the stadium. The hotel itself and the rooms seem nice enough, with very clean and spacious rooms offering amazing views. The staff is friendly and provides amazing service, with the front desk going above and beyond. There is a nice seating area in the lobby, and the free breakfast offered is very plentiful and good.
However, the hotel has several notable drawbacks. The lack of included parking is a significant issue, with valet parking described as way too expensive. Guests must use offsite parking several blocks away, which adds considerable cost. The rooms are small and basic, and some guests reported problems with the air conditioning system. The pillows are frequently mentioned as terrible, soft, and floppy with zero support, causing missed sleep. The rooms also lack amenities like coffee, tea, water, and ice buckets, with ice machines only on certain floors. There is no pool.
Overall, it provides a good and positive experience for its convenient location and cleanliness, but the expensive parking and room comfort issues are important considerations.
Good value for downtown. Good breakfast and service. They texted me 30 minutes after I checked in and I asked if they had complimentary water bottles (yes I was thirsty after long travels) and they gave me a couple bottles and a snack.
