“This store is great. It has a lot of items packed into a not very large business space, and I like the variety. I really wish there was more than one Trader Joe’s in Saint Paul, it seems really popular, there’s always a lot of customers in there.
I feel like Trader Joe’s frozen foods are of a better quality than a lot of equivalent frozen items in other places. This store has a lot of produce in it for such a small produce area.
They have a great selection of cheese for such a small store also. I love that they import a lot of items, I like that they have a coffee grinder on site, and the staff are helpful. Trader Joe’s brands everything with their own labeling, so if someone is new to the store they might expect to find common brands in there and will not. However, Trader Joe’s have really good products. Many of them are made with more natural ingredients, and many of them cost slightly less than their counterparts at other stores.
It’s also a great place to find unusual or seasonal items you might not find anyplace else. Theres a lot of seasonal themed flavors going on here over a range of products at any given time of year.
They don’t do delivery apps so you need to go into the store in person to shop. I see that as the only negative, but the store views it as positive. They like in person customers at TJs and are trying not to use Instacart and things like it, this limits how much disabled people who have a hard time in winter can shop there.
Other than that, I find their whole business model and products very positive.”

It’s unbelievable the stuff I have found there….many times in a pinch they have saved me a trip to the dreaded Cub.
The guys who own and run the place are so friendly and helpful too-a neighborhood treasure for sure.”

“It's a small but very nice place! They have a large selection of bulk items such as grains, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, coffee, tea, herbs, seasonings, honey, molasses, and even things like bulk tahini and soaps! They dont have a list of what they have, which is unfortunate but its still enjoyable”

“Quality everywhere uou turn. Just So expensive! I know COG has gone up everywhere but really? I have seen the exact item in other stores selling an average of a $1 to $2 more at Kowalski's. Especially fresh items. I.e. Boarshead meats sold all over $1 to $2 a pound more!! Life is hard.”

“This is a nice clean, stocked , organized store. They have a small baked item section. Nice size produce section. Some bulk bins for grains, seeds, flours, rice, dried fruits, coffee, and spices. Water refill station. They have personal care products. And some pet ,cat and dog section.
They have a hot bar/ deli counter. I have not experienced anything from that. But it seems good if you eat that sort of thing. Quick lunch. They have kombucha on tap.
In the spring they sell plants and herbs. We love to pick up starter plants and they are all so helpful.
The staff is always nice and efficient.”

Easy to find, and easy parking.”

“They’ve been working on the grocery section for up to five years now but the liquor store is open. I don’t really drink but I can tell you the staff is very friendly as this is also a UPS access point I frequent monthly.”

“Very good Mexican food, the best in the area, the only detail is the serving staff, since sometimes they are in a bad mood.

“On the weekends there is a hot deli, with sausage, bbq pork, and other items for sale that are delicious. I usually order that and some sweets, like the sticky rice banana rolls.”

“Bakery not good and the police presence is freaky, but I still give this place 4 stars for now. I started shopping almost exclusively at this location of Lunds and Byerly’s 6 months ago and have had almost nothing but a good experience. Yes, it is pricey and has the two issues I mentioned above, but I guess you get what you pay for: fully stocked shelves (this was actually why I switched to L&B; I was fed up with Target and Cub never having the items that I wanted. They carry them but were constantly out of stock), gorgeous produce, super clean, helpful staff, good product selection, etc. I have no idea why a heavily-armed police offer has to be there. I mean no disrespect to the officers, but I don’t like coming around a corner and seeing someone holding a massive weapon when I am just buying carrots or doing the week’s shopping. It makes me feel like I live in a war zone, and I see zero reason for L&B to think they need to provide this service. I’d rather they not hire these folks, save the money, and lower the prices a bit. Maybe L&B gets robbed all the time, or thinks they would without a police officer present, but it is just bizarre to me. As for the bakery, the cakes and pies never really looked good, so I hadn’t tried them until last night, when I bought French Silk and Lemon Cheese pies. Fed them to 12 people and nobody was impressed. Marie Callender sells a frozen Silk Pie for $10 bucks that is much better and the Lemon Cheese pie lacked flavor in every layer. Not worth buying at all, and the cakes look and sound like something that my daughter and I could whip up and could save $40 on. I guess I will continue to search the local bakeries or hit up Whole Foods for yummy and interesting cakes.”

“I'm not sure if this is a Mexican or a Latin grocery store but they have lots of items I remember from growing up. I used to think everyone had rice and beans with all their meals. Memories.”

“This place was so fun to explore. The fruits and veggies gave off that freshness feel. Never got a whole jackfruit before here. It was a very sticky adventure. The sales section was great for those on a budget. Trying different random fruit each time I go there. Learned the difference in the popular dragon fruits. Oh… and spices like turmeric and cinnamon are so much more cheaper here. An adventure every time I’ve been there.”

“Great food and great prices. Bring your own bag. Have a quarter ready to rent a shopping trolley. Not a huge variety but you'll definitely get better deals here than pretty much anywhere for your grocery needs.”

“I’m a native Chicagoan who knows his hometown’s hole in the wall spots as well as some Michelin starred restaurants, so I was looking for a legit taco joint to add to the growing list of places where I can grab quality grub. This supermercado has some authentic tacos with salsas that stand out there with what my mom (Rest in Power) would make for us at home. These aren’t gourmet tacos that also have their place in but just what you need on a fine afternoon if one is picking up some house chorizo or fresh Mexican queso fresco or some non-preservative tortillas at the counter. Throughly enjoyed the 7 tacos I got of all varieties (went back for four more after having 3) and will be coming back with my son to try their menudo on the weekends. Nothing fancy. But this isn’t about that.”

“Excellent selection of hard to find produce and incredibly reasonable prices. Grocery items are a bit limited, but perfectly sufficient for most Hmong cooking. I know often Muslims (my family included) go to Asian markets to look for halal items from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, etc. There isn't too much of that here aside from some instant noodles and condiment sauces. That being said, it's worth going just for the fruits and veggies. I went wearing a traditional thobe, and sometimes that can cause store employees and shoppers to give rude glares, but that wasn't the case here. Staff was respectable and shoppers were friendly. I would recommend this store to Muslims, as Hmong people use a lot of the same fresh produce we use for Desi, Arabic, African, and SE Asian food.”

“I enjoy their banh mi with the sauce. Nice addition of the soup, but must eat right away to avoid soggy-ness. Bread is baked in house, not as crunchy as I prefer.”
