“Great small grocery store that has a selection of anything you might need, including fresh produce and household supplies. The cookies, which they make themselves, are delicious!”
“I recently visited Hannaford and came away impressed overall. The store is clean, bright, and well laid‑out, making it easy to find what I needed without wandering endlessly. The produce section was fresh and vibrant — the strawberries I bought were sweet and juicy, and the greens looked crisp and well cared for.
The selection is strong: they carry good national brands, a decent line of local products, and some specialty items. I appreciated seeing some local dairy and baked goods mixed in alongside familiar staples.
Staff were friendly and helpful. When I asked for help finding an item, the associate went out of her way to point me in the right direction and even offered an alternative when they were out of stock.
Checkout was fairly quick, though the lines got a little long during peak hours. I also noticed that some shelf labels were missing or slightly off, and one or two “sale” items didn't seem to match what was rung up. Nothing deal‑breaking, but a little attention to detail would elevate the experience.
Overall, Hannaford is a solid grocery option — clean, pleasant, and dependable with a few minor hiccups. Worth shopping there and will return.”
“Hannafords is always a favorite place to shop for me. The stores are always neat, clean, and well stocked. They have good prices, and the employees are always nice. Great job everyone at Hannafords.”
“I just made a purchase, some cash registers have a button to charge for the drink before you take it out of the cooler. I am traveling today, so I don't appreciate the negative comments about my housing situation.
You're not out of line to ask me to grab the drink before charging but you passed judgment based on nothing. You also cut me off so you didn't get a tip. Have a nice time. I have a college education, and I am the least of your worries. So you get four stars.
I am not homeless. I am also not a shoplifter I don't even have a criminal record bone heads.”

“I've been coming to this store just about my whole life. The same people have worked there for probably longer than I've been going there. It's privately owned and the owners make all kind of delicious, fresh food, mainly sandwiches. Always friendly and polite. They have The Best beer cave in town”
“I stopped to pick up a few items, not expecting much but this store was so inviting. Nice displays of produce, flowers, just to name a few. And all fall decorations , that I wished I had a big shopping to do so I could spend more time here. A big store, with most everything you need. Clean as well which is a big plus. Glad I stopped in as this seems to be one of the nicest Hannafords around.”
“A perfect small-town gem — more than just a gas station!
The Golden Pond Country Store and Gas Station is an absolute staple in the Squam Lake area — the kind of place that perfectly captures the charm of a small New England town. Whether you’re a local or just visiting for a weekend getaway, this spot has everything you need and more.
First off, the location is super convenient, especially if you’re staying near Squam Lake. Gas prices are surprisingly affordable, especially for the area, which is always a nice bonus.
But this place is way more than just a gas station — it’s a full-on country store with a kitchen inside offering a great selection of ready-to-eat and made-to-order food. Sandwiches, hot food, and plenty of to-go options — they’ve got you covered whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or stocking up for the weekend. The store also functions as a general convenience store where you can find everything from breakfast essentials to grocery staples.
One of the highlights is their selection of local and touristy items, especially those celebrating Squam Lake and the classic film On Golden Pond, which was shot in the area back in the 1980s. It adds a really nice nostalgic and local flavor to the place.
The store is a good size — not too big, but very well-stocked — and the staff is outstanding. Every person we encountered was incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful in a genuinely warm, small-town way. They’re chatty, but in a good way — personable without being intrusive.
If you’re in the area, this place is a must-stop — whether you need gas, groceries, a hot meal, or just want to soak in some Squam Lake charm. It’s exactly what you’d hope to find in a small-town general store — practical, friendly, and full of character. Highly recommended!”

“Aug. 12, 2025
After swimming in Newfound Lake, in Wellington State Park, my husband and I stopped by Shackett’s Seafood Shack at 256 West Shore Road, in Bristol, NH, for a bite to eat. This place is known for their seafood, yet I recommend their burgers, and of course, their delicious fries. And to top off our meal, we ordered their yummy peppermint ice cream. (If you like ice cream, they have a ton of flavors to choose from!)
We have eaten at Shackett’s many times, over the years, usually after a swim in Newfound Lake. This time, it was super busy on a hot, August day. There were several orders in front of ours, yet there was plenty of room to sit down at a picnic table, or if one is inclined, walk across the street and visit the Shackett’s grocery store.
The youthful, and friendly cook, Parker, delivered our food in short order, and it all tasted great. The young women serving ice cream, were also friendly, and like Parker, professional in their job.
There’s plenty of parking available, so if you are in Bristol, during the summer, stop by Shackett’s for a tasty treat.”
“Time and time again, the team at Hannaford Pharmacy has exceeded all of my expectations for outstanding customer service. If a prescription is costly, they will go on line and search for a discounted price. There is quick turn around between dropping a prescription off and delivery. They will answer all questions and are simply professionally perfect, kind, caring and helpful. My heartfelt thanks for every time they've gone that extra mile to provide service that is second to none. Bravo!”

“Employees are ALWAYS maintaining this location! They work their butts off! But if you need their assistance they drop whatever they are doing to help! Awesome staff!”
“I love the sales and coupons they have. If you pay attention sometimes you can get some good deals!! I also love the manager there Sarah Sack, she is the best. She works hard to keep that store going. The owner needs to step it up and fix stuff so she doesn't get the backlash for it!!”
