“It has been a pleasure to shop here. I always find something surprising. The foods are quality, the variety is amazing and the staff are very friendly and friendly helpful.”
“It's Trader Joe's, need I say more. If you've shopped there you love it or hate it. If you have the opportunity I am on the side that loves it for some of the unique products and wine bargains. Give it a try!”
“This is a fantastic local market that truly delivers on its promise of fresh, high-quality produce. The selection is always vibrant and seasonal, and you can really tell they take care in sourcing their goods. It’s such a pleasure to shop in an environment that feels this welcoming, and the friendly staff makes every visit even better.”
“One of the best places in Southern Maine!!! The staff is always wonderful and the food is incredible. Don’t skip the prepared meal section or the delicious sandwiches. The pasta is obviously the star of the show. My family has been going for years and we will continue to be huge fans!”
“Great little market....if you're a millionaire
No.... they're prices are ridiculous on most things...but I will say... I live their chicken salad!”
“I bought a bottle of Bacardi here in August 2025. Amazing price. It was on sale and then a further 10% discount. I paid $15.29 for a 1.75 ltr. No tax on top. That is the best price that l have ever paid, l think. Good selection of other stuff too.”
“Always have loved market basket and glad I picked this one to go to. Many times it's hard to find items in other stores. However, most of the time I can find them easily at market basket”
“Great store! These people do everything possible to make your visit rewarding. Great selection but most of all - great people! I don't pass through here very often, I'm from Connecticut. But I will stop here every single time I'm in this neck of the woods. Thanks again Peter, I really appreciate your help.”
“Good solid good, produce, butcher, bakery, snacks, wine, berer and gift shop. Walking distance from hotels on Portsmouth Avenue, and downtown Exeter. A little pricey, but you'll find what you need here for a nice meal, birthday treat or snack.
If you are planning a roast for a holiday, or special occasion, order ahead! Also expect to pay a premium over your local grocery store or McKinnons.
In full transparency they once cut my Christmas rib roast not according to my request which although tasty, was disappointing.,(Prior to that, the cuts had always been to my soecifications). I was offered a credit from the manager, but when I went in to inquire about it twice,no one could help me and I was told the manager was unavailable. I haven't ordered my Christmas roast from them since. This is why I am giving them 4 stars, otherwise, I'd have given them a 5.”
“Our quadruple annual stop from CT to ME. I never accumulate gas points in CT, even though I am a daily shopper, but I love your gas prices.
PS- when I have gone into your store... I am amazed by how friendly your employees are.”
“Great little spot on 33 that has all the British classics. Mushy peas, real Heinz beans, PG tips tea... And so much more. There's even a British sweet treats room. Highly recommended.”
“Great shopping market. Expensive, but great selection of meats, poultry, produce and more!!!
Sunday I ran into this store to get a couple lemons and their price was good compared to other stores. So the prices and the other groceries are very competitive. Very nice associates there to help you!!”

“Whether you are food shopping or hungry for a bite, this is about as good as supermarkets get. The pre-made food is generally fresh and good. The selection is about what you'd expect, but always well stocked.
Obviously, this is a great location to stock up on meat. They have a lot of variety and seem to take it very seriously.
I, however, more often than not get the sushi, which is usually very good. Great beer selection too.”
“All ways great sales shelfs all ways stocked an now dont here people yelling at each other playing Mexican music like play ground sence ice raider it much better quiet an can move around with out getting bummed”
“I do all my primary shopping at Aldi. Their groceries are good quality and about the most affordable in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. My only complaint is a rearrange the land of the store and now it's less logical.”
“Good prices and variety of items. NO loud objectional music playing.. actually very quiet. Clean and neat. Good clean rest rooms. Friendly helpful staff. Not crowded and customers are orderly. Store is at a comfortable room temperature..NOT refrigerating you with A/C that works make you forget what you get for and want to run out to get warm outside. Made for a very nice shopping experience.”
“We used to buy loose cigarettes back in 92,93, 94,95 for 10 cents for a newport! Those were the good old days so we thought now we just find out that everything was just hidden and now it's being exposed! so really was it the good old days?! The Cabot Street market still makes me feel like it was!”
“Hannaford Hampton is nice enough and the employees are wonderful. For a few months now I have been a fan of the hot chicken tenders .. however, half the time they are overcooked, which is disappointing for the price. I get them home and I am totally let down. So I went to Hannaford in Exeter to see what they had. The chicken and whole hot food bar is amazing and always put out early. They’re amazing and cooked perfectly, every time! Plus you get more for your money. I was pleasantly surprised. Hampton used to have it out at 10:00 , then it was not out by 11:00. I know people are busy and working hard there. I met people shopping there who were also disappointed because the hot food was not out on time. Maybe hire someone just to get the hot food out on time, while not overcooking it.
Thank you ?”
“Why give a grocery store five stars?
Because they carry local/regional cheese. Coming from out of town for a week to work, being able to find local cheese and enjoy it during the week was perfect.”
“Very niche experience but I dropped my wallet and the guy working brought it out to me on the street, just the nicest thing in the world, potentially saved me a huge headache. He was also just very nice when we were in the store as well, and the store has a great selection of everything you might need at a quick stop. This place is a credit to Portsmouth”
“This is a solid choice for everyday grocery shopping, especially if you’re looking for decent prices and a good selection. They usually have what I need, and the deli, produce, and prepared food sections are pretty convenient. The staff is generally helpful, and checkout is usually not too bad considering how busy the store gets. That said, the store can feel cramped and a little dated compared to some newer grocery stores. A few aisles get crowded quickly, and the parking lot can be frustrating.”
“Rolling in along the endless parade of oceanfront immobilier de luxe, one dreams of a refined café, a civilized croissant. Instead, one discovers the Sandpiper: the lone outpost of refreshment in this desert for the cyclist’s soul. Cars crowd the roadside, doors swing open without a thought to the passing vélo — the Dutch Reach is a complete unknown here. Yet hunger dictates, and we dismount.
There is no rack, no intention toward the two-wheeled traveler. My bike leaned lonely, a rare species among the surfboards and sandy e-motos. Service is brisk enough, but clearly attuned to sunburnt beachgoers rather than the Lycra-clad. For the cyclist, it is stopgap fuel rather than a true enclave.
Here reigns the culture of surf: shirtless riders of foam boards, salty hair, languid conversation. It is not unwelcoming, merely indifferent. One observes the beach scene with a detached amusement, sipping from a sweating plastic cup, knowing this is not our civilisation, but theirs.
No espresso, no crema, no ceramic. Instead: a cold brew, decent enough, taken as necessity rather than joy. It refreshes, yes, but it does not inspire. This is hydration, not poetry.
Plenty on offer for the famished, but little of the pâtisserie one might crave. Sandwiches, bagels, smoothies—the practical provisions of surfers, not the buttery décadence that carries a rider through another twenty miles.
Not a cyclist’s café, but a seaside pause. One accepts the plastic cup, the salt air, the people-watching. And while it lacks panache, it is the only flame in this desert stretch of coastline. For that, it earns a respectful nod before one clips back in.

“Hannafords pharmacy is so helpful and quick! They helped with medication transfer and all in 5 minutes. Before that I've called Walgreens for 3 days for the same medicine and they kept deferring it and saying it's ordered when it was not.”
“Shaw's is a go-to for fresh, affordable grocery shopping.
The produce is consistently crisp and vibrant, and the deli, meat, and seafood departments stand out for their freshness and quality.
Deals are where this place really shines—digital coupons unlock some fantastic savings, and the pharmacy adds extra value with vaccines, COVID-19 shots, and even up to 20% off groceries when you transfer prescriptions.
Clean, well-stocked, and packed with ways to save—it’s the kind of store that makes your cart feel a little smarter every trip.”
“our favorite stop in town. Always reliable, gas, moes subs. carries my favorite Guayaki Yerba mate teas. Great selection of beer as-well. Always friendly, 5 stars!”
“This is a small store but packed with a huge number of Indian spices and other international goods. This store is an example of great things that come from a growing immigrant population in the area.
If you make your own Indian meals, you'll find everything you need here to make it authentic.
A great little store with very reasonable prices.”

“I went in here to get 2 umbrellas and a 6 pack of Stella Artoise. I was helped by a very nice young man between 18 and 22 years old. He was so nice. He brought me straight to where the umbrellas were and even let me open one up to make sure it was what I wanted and not damaged and he also went to the coolers and grabbed the beer for me. It was pretty cool. The girl he was working with was also very polite.”
“Great location, extremely clean, beautiful shelves, and well stocked. Not to mention plenty of help if needed for whatever reason you may need.. love you Walmart”
“Absolutely love this beach mart! They had everything I could have possibly needed and all the little things I forgot to pack for a beach day with the family. From essentials to those last-minute must-haves, they had it all. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure I found exactly what I needed. It’s rare to find a place with such a great selection priced affordable and such genuinely kind people. Thank you for helping make our beach day stress-free and enjoyable!”
“Lovely store very helpful staff they even offered to order the item that they were out of stock as long as it was on a warehouse list could not have been more helpful”
