“Love this location! The staff is extremely helpful. Someone running registers tonight was even helpful enough to pull a book for me AS I WAS SHOPPING! Sucks that it's inside such a terrible mall”

“The new location is truly impressive. It wasn’t what I expected; it was more stunning than anticipated. They reorganized it in a way where you can roam around more freely stumbling on interesting sections including gifts and memorabilia. I will definitely come back with the kids. Finally they also brought back some seating! I know a few locations that got rid of seating and you can barely review books. So here you can relax a bit to check out some books or while your family or friends look around. The cafe seating was also really large and looked really nice! I didn’t try it because they seemed to be having a lot of difficulty with orders. I overheard one man asking for several items but they were unavailable including basic coffee. They should work on that. Aside from that it’s truly a nice location.”

“This bookstore is large and pleasant, it has a large number of titles for children, it has a coffee shop where you can spend a pleasant time and many windows, which allow you to enjoy natural light. The only thing that would improve is to add children's books in Spanish, my son is 6 years old and loves to read in English and Spanish and is learning to speak French but it is difficult to find children's books in these languages.”

“I always feel welcome, a most see if you like reading and theatre. This is a wonderful place to grab a drink and a pastry and enjoy a good read. People are kind and creative, artistic vibes of artists that live and wanna make it in the city. The brewed coffee is not my favorite but there is a variety of options.”

“This shop is a must-visit if you like to read or have friends who read. Stopped here for the first time to buy a gift for a voracious reader and the staff were so helpful. They also write out descriptions of their favorite picks, so you can browse those to find things that you might enjoy. The vibe here is welcoming, calm, and cozy.”

“I grew up in washington heights and I would love to know what year this place opened? I would pass it a lot and never think to go inside. It's a good quality book store. There's a small section of manga. I love that my community has access to books!”

“Impressed with the reno (I haven't been here since H.S. soooo a long time) and the selection of international fiction novels. Some of the staff at checkout can be super unhelpful though.”

“A wonderful selection of unique books, zines, and art. These books very much fit within the “art book” category, with some opening up from a cover made of cardboard into an accordion binding, while others consist of maze-like infrastructures that make the contents complimentary to the art of the binding itself. They have beautiful prints in the back, with some for sale. And a wonderful little “book machine” that gets you a sweet little bobble that holds a mini zine! I highly recommend adding this place to your to-go list if you’re new to the area or just stopping through.”

“A cozy, neighborhood gem of a bookstore and decided I found a new favorite. Though the selection of fiction are not that extensive, I love how they have book recommendations, bargain options, and blind date with a book available. The basement was dedicated mostly for young adult and children books. They also have a stationary, gift items and random trinkets which I also love!”

“A nice shop with a wide selection of books to choose from and friendly staff to help you a long the way. They have a location on 114th, closer to the Columbia campus, but this location has a much larger selection to look through. Among my interests are a niche genre of books, and I was pleasantly surprised by what they had to offer in those genres; meeting my needs and more. All over the store they have signs noting different recommendations from the staff which is fun to peruse and explore new books that others enjoyed. They also take orders and pre-orders which is nice. Overall, a great local bookstore to support, with an excellent stock of books at fair prices and friendly staff.”

“Yvette, Sara, Esther, Dev, Patti and the whole team at Mystical World have treated me like family since I first discovered them at a Fair. Highly professional and educational with years of studies all things Metaphysical and more. Always a warm and kind hearted welcome. I’ve been referring them to family and friends for years with zero disappointments. These are caring, understanding, knowledgeable, and helpful people. Their crystals and stones are mesmerizing. They have everything you may need including the most beautiful of mass cards to express your sympathy to those who have lost a loved one. Their collections of angels and statues is pristine. Their classes are both therapeutic and educational. They hold several meditation sessions during the course of the week with Yvette’s soothing tone of voice bringing you to complete relaxation and feeling recharged afterwards. I’ve been a patron for around 15 years. They have never steered me wrong. I walk out of the shop feeling happy, positive, and empowered.I am so grateful and thankful for finding everyone at Mystical World.”
