Hound About Town
218 Montgomery St, Jersey CityI actually like this spot enough to give it 4 stars. There is one staff member who is nice but for the rest, I would have to say pretty rude. Sorry I interrupted your doom scrolling because I needed to buy things at your business. Dont let a few bad apples stop you from coming here though. Lots of fresh treats that are good for the pups.

PitBull City
234 Old Bergen Rd, Jersey CityJust got back our pup Rosy and she was groomed by far the best than any other groomer I’ve went to in Bayonne and Jersey City!! Between the price, friendliness of the owners, and their expertise, This was a 5/5 Star experience and I’ve found my go to place! A hidden Gem in Jersey City!

Fussy Friends pet supply
458 Central Ave, Jersey CityA nice local pet store - the staff is friendly. Only reason I'm not giving 5 starts is because they NEVER open at their posted 10a.m. opening time - I've been there multiple times around 10 and they were not open even 10-15 minutes after.
Edit: Sorry I meant 11am - the posted opening time - not 10am. Today I was there until 11:10am and the store was not open.

Pet Grooming

Jersey City Paws
532 Liberty Ave, Jersey CityGrizzly had his very first grooming session, and it couldn’t have gone better!
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was calm, clean, and welcoming. The staff was incredibly friendly and made both Grizzly and us feel comfortable right away.
They took great care of him, and he came out looking handsome with the cutest little bow tie. For a first grooming experience, it was absolutely perfect. Grizzly looked great, smelled great, and most importantly seemed happy and relaxed.
A big thank you to the entire team for making his first visit such a positive one. We’ll definitely be back!

Downtown Woody's Grooming
348 Pavonia Ave, Jersey CityWe have only had the loveliest of experiences with this team. Our two Pomeranians - Birdie + Meeka - get so excited once they realize where we’re going. They genuinely love all of the staff there and we feel very comfortable and safe with leaving them with the team - Which is a big deal when you’re handing over your babies! It does feel like they treat them like their own. They’ve even talked us out of cutting them too short to preserve their gorgeous coats - a hot topic in our household because ((FUR!!)) 🤣
10/10 would recommend ❤

216 Central Ave, Jersey CityOur cat had a lovely experience here. We’ll definitely be back! It’s not easy to find places that deal with long haired cats - we went for a regular spa (that includes the nails/wash/dry) and a sanitary trim. The owner, John, was a pleasant surprise. He told us everything there is to know about what to expect. Thank you!

Animal Clinic & Hospital - Larry Buchholz DVM
603 West Side Ave, Jersey CitySurprised to see anything but 5 stars here. Dr. Buchholz is super knowledgeable and helpful. Even though we moved we will still drive a long distance to see him because we trust his opinion and he provides the best care. Clean clinic, nice staff. The location is a bit annoying get to, but at least there's easy parking (private parking lot) and prices are very fair. Highly recommend!

Animal Clinic & Hospital: Yoo Sung H DVM
603 West Side Ave, Jersey CityAs a mother, the possibility of my son having cancer was in the back of my mind. We always think the worst. The swelling on his face was not subsiding, dismissing the chances that it could have been a bee sting, or an allergy to pollen, or a fungus. I did not want to believe. He is a joyful child who loves chasing after cats, squirrels, douchebags, and plunging into the lake at Lincoln Park. On his tush, the hamza is etched to ward off evil eye and...douchebags. He is a rescue, from a terrible family, and landed into my arms like a blessing. So for reassurance, I went to Animal Clinic as they are walking distance from my house. We had the clinic to ourselves as it was a Thursday morning. He got sedated and tests and x rays were made on him. While the cytology came out inconclusive and no metastasis was present anywhere in his body, there was an extremely high chance that it was a tumor and malignant as such due to how fast it was growing. They sent us home with steroids to see if they would work on bringing the swelling down while advising me to make an appointment with an oncologist. There are no vet oncologists in Jersey City. There are no vet specialists for that matter, in Jersey City. So...ok....why am I giving the clinic 5 stars? they allowed my son to rest after the tests and wean off the sedation. He stayed in a room by himself, dozing off the sedatives, until he was able to walk on his own. It took 3 hours for that to happen and I am appreciative for them not to have kicked us out once exams were done. I brought with me my work and carried on my job at the clinic; it was like any other working day, while waiting to be able to walk back home. He woke up, was able to walk and we had a lovely stroll back to our fluffy beds and tushy tickles. Every small gesture of kindness towards my child is worth gold. Didn't matter if the tests were inconclusive and still had to pay for them. They treated my son well and that's all that matters.

Fur Seasons Dog Resort & Spa
480 Johnston Ave, Jersey CityWe absolutely love Fur Seasons. Our cavapoo Whiskey has been going there for daycare, grooming and boarding ever since he was a little puppy and he is 3.5yo now. Nese, Tom and the team are the best, they truly love and look after the dogs in their care and are just amazing people. The moment whiskey sees that blue door he goes nuts to go inside and play, it is his happy place. We don’t know what we would do without you guys!

Hudson Barks
533 Central Ave, Jersey CityEven though it has been a few years, I still think of this puppy class with gratitude. The approach was positive, modern, and compassionate, and our puppy was treated with so much patience and kindness. Jennifer was wonderful and brought such warmth to the whole experience. It was a lovely place for both puppies and people to learn, and I would absolutely recommend it.
Jennifer, if you remember us, we were the ones with the rambunctious ACD who was a face-licker. He is all grown up now (nearly 4 years old) and has become an excellent dog who's easy to live with. We cannot imagine being happier with how he turned out, and this class was an important part of that foundation.

Rosa's K-9 Training
41 Morton Pl, Jersey CityMr. Rosa is the absolute best!!! Hands down!!!! He trained my stubborn Rottie, Harley, (God rest her soul) in 1 weeks time and now my 2 absolutely crazy pittie mixes. He trained them in 1 hour. The difference between them before and after is astounding!!! They are like 2 new well trained dogs. I even was able to walk them myself for a half mile and that wasn't even our main focus of training. Mr. Rosa, I am forever grateful to you for your amazing work. I can't thank you enough so I decided to come leave a review to show my thanks and hopefully help others that are looking for an amazing dog trainer. Thank you again!!! This is the best dog trainer in the world!!!

Executive Dog Lounge
192 York St, Jersey CityWhen it comes to doggy day care in downtown Jersey City, there is the executive dog lounge and then there is everything else.
The lounge is in a tier of its own when it comes to professionalism, personalized care, cleanliness, and reliability in providing a truly special environment for small dogs.
We moved to the area at the start of the pandemic and realized fast that we needed to find a daycare for our small dog (16 lbs) who was very much used to having us around all day.
James, EDL’s owner and manager, was gracious about letting our dog get used to the daycare environment while also being clear about behavior and scheduling expectations to make sure all the dogs are supervised safely.
Almost six years later, we're moving out of the neighborhood but could not be more thankful for the lounge and neither could our little guy.
At the lounge, poochies are “kids” and we are the “parents,” which says a lot about how things are run. No larger dogs or aggressive behavior tolerated. Dogs get multiple walks per day, eat their lunch separately, and get such personalized attention it sometimes feels like we get a daily report card into how our little guy’s doing.
James is a master at ensuring the lounge is never overcrowded and is tireless in keeping the place clean. We’ve seen (and smelled) daycares where dogs are let loose in an unclean, empty room. The lounge is an oasis in comparison and the dogs absolutely know the difference -- our little guy strains and wags his way the door everyday because he’s so excited to come back.
Then there’s the reliability factor. In almost six years, the lounge has never been closed without notice (rain, snow, sleet, flood or hurricane). The dogs know each other and get along great. We also know James’ staff by name and they know all the intricacies of each poochie’s personality by heart too.
Simply put, the lounge is the right decision for any small dog parents looking for the best care in Jersey City. It's one of a kind pet care that you won't find elsewhere.
We'd give it 6-stars if we could.
Thank you, James!

Anything's Pawsible
206 Clerk St, Jersey CityWhile we did not take our dog to their training, we did meet the owners at a recent dog event. We met two of the dogs they were training and were very pleased. We spoke for 10-20 mins and agreed on many key training points and the proper use of electric collars. Based on that interaction, I'd recommend them to someone looking for basic or advanced training.

ME Casa Catering
694 Ocean Ave, Jersey CityI have had the pleasure of knowing Chef Eddie for almost 10 years, ever since I first discovered his restaurant, Mecasa, in downtown Jersey City. From my very first visit, I was completely taken back by the incredible, rich flavors of his food and the wonderfully cozy, welcoming atmosphere he created.
Over the years, Eddie has only grown more brilliant as a chef. Most recently, he partnered with me for a major milestone—catering my book launch event—and once again, he absolutely blew everyone away. His Latin dishes are not just food; they are a culinary experience made with passion, authenticity, and love.
If you are looking for an exceptional chef who brings both world-class flavor and heartwarming professionalism to the table, look no further than Chef Eddie. He is truly one of a kind!
