Furry Paws
1705 3rd Ave, New YorkFurry Paws has always been my go to for doggie merchandise. Today I was helping a friend looking for the booties for her dog for out in the cold and snow. The employee was so helpful showing me how they are packaged. She had various sizes for different breeds of dogs. It was listed on the package. They came in different colors made of a soft rubber and are disposable. She said she sells a lot of them for $19.99 a package. I left with a lot of information for my friend. It's up to her if she wants to get them or search online for a different style or price. I'm recommending Furry Paws if you live nearby. Save the puppies feet from pain in the ice and snow!

132 Thompson St # B, New YorkThank Goodness for independent pet supply stores! This shop has been around quite some time. The current proprietor, Sammy, is such a pleasant man. And the employee Freddy is a sweetheart. There is a great selection of food, toys, health products, sweaters, & so forth-all at a fair price. It's my first choice for shopping for an animal friend. Definitely a gem of a business.

LITTLE CREATURES
305 Columbus Avenue, New YorkThis is a pretty new location at this writing . And each location has different staff, so I'll tell you the people at this particular location are phenomenal. They went out of their way to special order things for me as I'm feeding my cats only raw food and it can be a really complicated and difficult thing. I'm not sure I want to do a subscription to anything and we're only just trying things and everyone has been super helpful. The store is neat and well organized.

Furry Rascals
607 W 158th St, New YorkI try to shop local, so I stopped in for the first time recently during a stretch of severely cold whether to see whether they had jackets for our 50-pound pup. They did have a good selection, but none just right for our boy. The man helping said he would look downstairs to see if there were any more jackets down there. In the meantime, I asked the owner whether they carried prescription diet foods. The owner then took the time to ask questions about my pet and his current situation. The other employee returned with a jacket that fit well, looked great, and was priced competitively. I didn't think I would have luck with the jacket, so I was happy to get this for the cold weather. I was very surprised and even happier when the owner then threw in a $30 bag of high quality kibble to try as an alternative to the major supplier brand. This man hadn't seen me before and couldn't know whether I'd ever return again. With service and kindness like this, he can be sure that Furry Rascals is our new favorite local pet store.

54 Tiemann Pl, New YorkAlejandro was absolutely incredible with my super senior dog. You can see just how gentle and careful he is in the way he interacts with each dog he encounters and I don't think my little guy could've been in better hands. My little guy does not have the use of his back legs and is generally feeble. The care that Alejandro and team took of my little guy was above and beyond what I could've asked for. They also were preceptive and understanding of MY anxiety and didn't make me feel like I was bothering them with my questions and worries.

Harlem Doggie Day Spa
734 St Nicholas Ave, New YorkI’m a first time dog owner and only had my dog for 2 weeks. She was given to me not in the best condition and I couldn’t wait to get her to a groomer. I live really close to Harlem Doggie Day Spa and walk pass it everyday so I was excited to get an appointment fairly quickly.I dropped Jodie off at 1:00pm and she was ready around 4:30pm. She looked like a brand new dog and smelled great!I’m not familiar with full grooming pricing and had no issues paying. Please note my dog is only 13lbs. My total came out to $172. The gentleman at the front desk was a bit off putting. He charged me an extra fee because he said Jodie was manic when they were trying to cut hair from her paw. The groomer said she did a great job and didn’t mention that. Overall, I was pleased with the service but hesitant to go back.

Honey's Pet Grooming
91 Washington St, New YorkI've meant to review this place for so long, and now I have a little free time. I just picked my Bouvier Des Flandres up from a groomer in Seattle tonight. There was no rhyme or reason to his haircut. He looked like an abstract painting, and that's not a compliment. I've heard it before: "He's so hard to groom! He doesn't sit still!" I know that. And that's why I wish I still lived in NYC, because I swear, the woman who groomed our Bouvier at Honey's was some kind of dog whisperer, and I've compared every groomer to her since then. NYC, you are LUCKY to have this grooming salon. I remember calling after 5 hours asking, "Is my dog ready?" She answered, breathlessly: "He's a challenge. He doesn't like the clippers. So I brewed myself some coffee and left the clippers on, buzzing near him on the table." She actually gave my dog time to desensitize to the sound, and it was effective. I've tried this myself, but it wasn't the same. I can't recall her name, but whoever you are, you truly have a connection to animals. You are patient, kind, and you are an artist!!! If I could charter my own jet with my dog to your salon, I would!!

Towne House Grooming & Pet Supplies
288 8th Ave, New YorkOne of the few places that accept cats. They've always done a great job when I've taken my cat there. Only had one hiccup since I've gone there. Gave my cat a Lion cut when I only wanted his matting shaved but honestly I'm not mad about it. The staff have always been friendly and this is my regular groomer. Only complaint I have is that I wish they had better times to bring my cat. Unfortunately I can't always bring him because I work when they're available to see him. As far as pricing goes, last time I paid about $211 for a Lion cut.

Pet Care
Riverside Veterinary Care on Columbus
428 Columbus Ave, New YorkIf I could give a million star rating I would. Dr. East saw our boy Todd first last week for what we hoped would be a routine check up, upon exam she immediately noted a large abdominal mass and recommended gold standard veterinary care and referrals. She handled our boy with kindness and compassion as well as discussing all of our options thoroughly and answering all of our questions. Yesterday we saw Dr. Ratcliff who also treated our sweet boy with the same dignity, respect, and high quality veterinary care. Completing the first steps of testing for his cancer diagnosis, and carefully selecting the medications he needed to be comfortable. She called us immediately upon receiving test results which unfortunately resulted in Todd’s final veterinary visit at the ER after hours. We were told where to go, what may happen, and Todd’s records were immediately sent out. This vet clinic is efficient, compassionate, and how every vet clinic should be modeled after from the technician’s fear-free approach, the doctor’s high quality of medicine, and the office staff’s efficiency. The office is clean and well thought out to be “fear free certified” which is just another sign of how important your animal’s experience is to this hospital’s staff. Because of this clinic, Todd did not suffer or feel any pain in his final days, and we are forever thankful for that. People like this vet hospital make the world a better place. Thank you.

Pet Sitting & Training
Spot-On K9 Training
400 W 43rd St #33R, New YorkWe adopted our 2.5 year old mixed boy, Sal, in October 2023 and quickly learned he was an absolute nightmare when it came to walks. We didn't know anything about Sal's history, but he was not fond of other dogs to say the least. He would growl and lunge at every single dog that walked by on top of just having poor leash manners in general (constant pulling, zig zagging, and sniffing the ground). After a few weeks, we realized we couldn't do this anymore - walks were so stressful for us, and we weren't giving Sal enough exercise. After ONE training session with Stephen, Sal was basically a new dog. While Sal still had a lot of work to do - we were able to walk more than a couple of blocks stress-free. After our next few sessions, we've really learned how to manage Sal's reactivity and advocate for our dog. Two things Stephen did for us was show us the correct training equipment to use AND how to be a confident owner with a reactive dog.Sal has gotten SO much better in just 5 sessions - we're able to take him on our long walk to our favorite coffee shop in the mornings without worrying about how he'll behave while passing dogs. He's making better decisions every single day and now it's FUN to walk our dog around the city.I'm so happy we realized pretty early on that we needed a trainer to help us. Stephen is more than knowledgeable, you can tell he's REALLY passionate about helping dogs be their best selves. Plus, Sal absolutely LOVED being around Stephen! We are so thankful for Stephen and all he's done to help us - I would absolutely recommend Spot-On K9 training to anyone looking to give their pup a better, happier, and more structured life!

Her love for dogs is so evident. Deanne focuses not only on dog training, but also on giving owners the tools they need to continue training in between sessions. She writes detailed summaries with instructions on how to progress further, and I have learned so much about dog training and behavior through her, even as a lifetime dog owner. Deanne uses a science-backed positive reinforcement approach which has been great in helping my nervous rescue pup build confidence. FIGO Il Gelato Italiano
178 Mulberry St, New YorkI've wanted to try gelato for the longest time but had no idea where to begin, especially given the abundance of options in NYC. Thankfully, I came across a fellow Yelp friend's glowing review of Figo and knew this was just the place. We came on a dreary day, and there were no customers when we arrived, but honestly, I was too excited to care. The interior was cute and green and gave major spring forest vibes. I did my research so I knew exactly what I wanted. My sister, on the other hand, contemplated between pistachio and caffè and ended up going with the latter. Their prices have risen slightly. It's now $7.50 (instead of $6) for a regular cup of gelato, with up to 2 flavors. The portions are huge though, so two people can easily share a cup. * Ferrero Rocher I was dead set on ordering this flavor, and it was everything I imagined it to be. Sweet, smooth, rich, and creamy, with blended Ferrero Rocher bits. I found an almost whole Ferrero Rocher piece at the bottom of my cup and loved the added crunch. * Caffè Absolutely divine and exactly how I like my coffee. This flavor perfectly balanced the sweet and creamy elements of gelato with the rich and subtle, bitter notes of dark roast coffee. Highly recommend!

178 Mulberry St, New YorkWe had an excellent experience at Marcellino. The meatballs were fantastic. The mozzarella appetizer was one of our favorites. I especially loved the raspberry blossom drink. We had no problem making a reservation and the service was excellent.

Leroy Street Dog Park
353 West St, New YorkNice space, especially w/the mini water fountain area. Decent length for dogs to run, chase, and play fetch (quite clean I may add!). Wished it were a bit larger. Nonetheless the setting by the water, priceless!

Muddy Paws Rescue
821 9th Ave FRNT 1, New YorkWe went to their adoption event back in September and met with a puppy that we loved. We went to their event on a whim and and were told that since we already met with the pup, we would get first priority and could set up a meeting at HQ during the week. We were so excited. We emailed that same day, days go by, no response… Finally when we did get a response, we were told that we were now second in line and that we can come to next weeks event to see what the first person in line decides. We went to the event and were crushed as we saw the first person in line take him home. If we would have known, we would have taken the dog the same day we met with him. It was very unprofessional for us to be lied to and made believe that we had high chances. Another volunteer that I explained this to simply said the person helping us did not know the rules and should have never told us we would get priority. Although I ended up adopting another pup later on and will still recommend/will adopt from muddy paws again, this experience still makes me sad. I write this review in hopes for change because muddy paws is truly saving dogs. Please provide better customer service because communication through email takes too long and there were times where I would get inaccurate responses (ex. I was told they couldn’t find my registration when I was indeed registered) and then it will take days again to get a response. And of course, I ask to please train volunteers the proper rules so that my situation will not happen to others.

Ethical Frenchie
17 State St FL 40, New YorkRenee was so helpful throughout the entire process. She made sure to reach out during Bacon’s first few weeks at home to help answer any questions, and she even provided a detailed list of things to help Bacon stay healthy! Here are a few pictures of Bacon, he’s one happy dog!

Best Friends Lifesaving Center
307 W Broadway, New YorkSuper friendly, Fast, Care, Loving and just an amazing place! I have looked through so many reviews on other adoption centers and this had the best review. I went there twice on different days and the staff and the animals have been the best and on the second day we adopted one cat! I would 100% recommend this place! (Not even paid to say this or forced to) We talked with Lexi and Margaret who helped us find a cat!

Broadway, New YorkVery fun dog park, it's wonderful to see them play. I find the division of spaces for medium/large dogs and mini-sized dogs very useful....

Parks Dog Run
FDR Dr, New YorkNice park, could use some attention in the cleanliness area, but it’s good. Dogs all seem nice and what not. My dog enjoys it for sure. Just needs a bit of cleaning from time to ring

Waldo’s rescue pen
New YorkI've fostered 6 dogs with Waldo's, they are very communicative and care about the dogs. It's sad all the negative reviews are on the same day- all in attempt to defame this rescue. They do great work and care about the dogs tremendously. Probably the most communicative rescue we've spoke to. We don't need 6 interviews to know we are okay to foster- we don't have a fenced yard. We are New York City dog parents. Be dammed if you do, dammed if you don't. Said that one person who doesn't do anything feels compelled to leave multiple negative reviews for a dog rescue!
