“If you love theater, this is the place for you. An amazing selection of plays to read and consider---you can explore ancient plays by the Greeks, Elizabethan contemporaries of Shakespeare, or plays that have just closed on or off Broadway. Great ambience; friendly staff and comfortable spaces where you can lose yourself in whatever play you are reading. I am really happy it exists and always look forward to visiting.”
“We came with my friends for Sahur in the first days of Ramadan. Everything was delicious and the service was extremely good.Food 10/10Atmosphere 9/10Service 10/10”
“Best book and patiserrie in NJ.You might encounter Turkey's prominent authors as well. A place to read and have a variety of sweets , salads. Oh donot forget to bring your small kids , it has a playground inside.”
“A book lover's paradise in Union square Manhattan. This bookstore has all types of rare and out of print books. Spent some quality time here. Wonderful readings.”
“Got a book, amazing prices, I could not find any better, amazing print quality, and came with not one, but two free bookmarks, and was shipped earlier than it was supposed to be, which is a good thing. 100/10”
“Stumbled into this place while visiting town. It was so cute and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. They had a ton of art, architecture, and coffee table books. I snagged a pile of books for a great price.”
“HEAVEN?This bookstore is one of the Top reasons I like to go to NYC…and keep in mind I have family who lives there! It’s hard to believe but true that such a small, cozy place has so many great books and is really well organized, too.The staff is Amazing! Each person I’ve spoken with has been warm, engaging, knowledgeable and absolutely delightful! So, each time I’m in NYC and disappear, the response is…”Oh, Mom is at Three Lives.”I love it!”
“Love this place omg! Tons of super cute things , even if you don't buy anything its fun to look around. Total animanga lover heaven. The cafe is really nice and they make an amazing jasmine boba tea. Some of the things in store are at a markup so I'd recommend looking online before purchasing more expensive items. But you can sometimes find good things for cheaper thn usual. Got a really nice figure for a steal! Only real complaint is that it felt a bit awkward when going to check out, some of the employees just seem like they do not wanna be there. Not even a small smile or a "how are you". Asked for a bag and she had this face as if i was doing her an inconvenience. But maybe I just caught her on a bad day idk. Definitely going again soon though!”

“This is my favorite bookstore in the area. Of course the selection is great, but what makes it stand out is the warm and friendly atmosphere and the staff that is not only so knowledgeable, but is so willing to help. They’re also willing to hang back if you just want to browse, but I love getting their recs.”
“Great variety of books across genres and geography. Very good selection for Arab Heritage Month, although I wish it was downstairs, closer to the main foot traffic.”
“Has to be one of the best bookstores in NYC. The book selection is incredible, I’m always so tempted. There’s some benches to sit on and browse, no cafe/food if you’re looking for that. Just books, what else can you ask for while walking around soho! The staff are all super kind.”
“Love book stores which are virtually a relic of the past. A nice place to spend some time browsing titles. I was looking for books for our grandchildren. I noticed it was a draw for some neighborhood seniors as a place to cool off on a hot summer day while reading up on some titles.”
“One of the most beautiful bookstores in New York City. It's previous location on 5th Avenue was memorialized in the movie Falling in Love with Meryl Streep and Robert de Niro.”
“I love how much the employees love books but also love helping people. Thank you to the blonde lady up front (I don't recall your name) for being so helpful with us. I am not much of a reader and asked for "fiction yet had some historical truth". She quickly went to work finding some awesome books. We left with 4. Definitely a place we will come back to every time we are in town.”

“Astoria Bookshop is tucked away off the main drag and that only makes it more perfect. The shop is loaded with current best sellers, kids books & cute notebooks, bookmarks and cards. They even had some signed copies of books that were great to see. The ladies were so friendly and sweet. I had my dog with me and they were so excited to see her and offered her treats and pets. Checked out the shops Instagram where they have all their events & happenings. I also picked up my next read and I'll definitely go back there for more books and tosupport this great shop!”
“Nestled in tranquility, Housing works bookstore invites you to savor a book over a steaming cup of coffee. The impeccable service, though unobtrusive, adds to the charm. While the book collection isn’t extensive, it remains a delightful haven for leisurely moments.”
“Love this book store!! I take my kids there. It's amazing to see them in awe at all the kids books with characters the look like them! The owners are incredibly nice and helpful.”

“I am grateful Jersey City has this amazing bookstore! I especially appreciate the personalized efforts they put to ensure you receive the book you ordered. And honestly people shouldn’t complain about the prices. This is the type of entitlement that has put us in a situation where we have only one quality bookstore in Jersey City. Wear the old coat and buy the new book!”
“I stumbled upon this cute place while exploring the city. I had never heard of a zine before but was in awe when I walked in. It’s easy to forget about time and get lost in all the zines and books. The staff is really kind and passionate about the arts. Savannah really took her time to show me what Zines are all about. I was really inspired by her. I can’t wait to come back in the fall when I’m in the city.”
“Guiness book world record Biggest Barnes and Noble Union Square...4 floors....beautiful views overlooking Farmers market area while enjoying a Starbucks and checking out books. Worth it!”
“I just love this bookstore... because it's more than a bookstore... it's a place where you can go and get lost in time and space, and connect with another world. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff is very friendly and people go there sometimes just to hang around or socialize...or find peace and quiet in a busy and troubled world. This is a place where you can feel the sense of the community and feel like you are part of it.... it's a place where you can feel the magic of books coming alive. It's a place where you can find books, volunteer, attend a puppet show, an art or a yoga event, or even a birthday party. So give it a try and you will be happy you did.”
“Excellent engaged staff. Finally have Starbucks and B&N fully integrated. Sorry to see the loss of a floor. Loved how they got me a book I needed in a day or two that Amazon -didn't have...and no pressure to buy it. So, i read 1/2 in the store and enjoyed it enough to take it home. Great experience!! Pleasantly surprised!!!”
“So adorable! I'm so surprised I have driven by this store without knowing so many times. This store is the cutest bookworm oasis with a sprinkle of unique knickknacks for gifting joy or just for yourself. You walk in and to the right is a little book nook with arm chairs and a "fireplace". Straight to the back right is a children's corner draped with a bevy of new and old finds and some comfy pillow cushions for the littles to sit and read. We found some great books I haven't seen before and probably wouldn't have noticed otherwise, they do a nice job placing books face forward and highlighting a diverse collection. From a book about dim sum to critter club it was a nice collection without feeling cluttered. There's another corner near the register with totes, accessories and so forth. After purchasing our books (each with a bookmark and in beautifully designed paper bags) the woman let my girls Pick out a sticker to which the obliges with enthusiasm. Right across from Verona park and a much welcomed Addition to Bloomfield Ave. Thanks for making it a lovely visit. Be back soon!”
“Tannen's shop is magical. Anyone who has made it to the 6th floor at number 45 and to door 608 will end up in a paradise for magicians. Hundreds of tricks are waiting behind the large counter to be demonstrated and purchased. There is also a whole library of magical literature on the shelves.”
“This bookstore found me. And every since then it’s been calling me back. I walked in and was met with the smell of the alphabet and maps from every country in the world. I was allowed to peruse the first floor without being pressured and that felt good because walking in can be intimidating.Everyone there was helpful and I was directed to the second floor by means of a turn of the century elevator. Maps on this floor were organized smartly and you must ask for assistance before taking them off the shelf.I would encourage you to check out their website so you have an idea of what you are looking for before arriving. They also have volumes online that may not be in store at the current time but they have access to from their warehouse.”
“It's a Place Where Black History is Protected & Stored ! Where Our Ancestors are Reborn- Where Harlem Provides The Power of Reading To It's Young and Old! Whenever I Need to Vibe in African Culture Sister's Uptown Bookstore and Cultural Center in Harlem is My Place To Be!”
“Our second visit but may do Ludlow or other on next visit. It is a good location. Clean and large rooms. But quirky and quite noisy at night. Always a hassle getting the TV working. Slowest elevator in Manhattan? Also check-in is a FIRM 4 PM. It is typically $50 - $100 cheaper per night vs. the nearby competitors.”
“A couple minutes in this store is enough to realize that it is an extraordinary collection of books — whoever is putting it together has an eye solely for interesting and uncommon volumes. Give them your money with gratitude.”

“Appreciate this store a lot - I emailed them to check on a book and shortly after received a response, which is somewhat rare. They didn’t have it in stock but ordered it for me and I was able to pick it up a few days later. I will be back :)”
“I loved going to artbox when I was in Korea so I was really excited to see one in the states now! It's a small shop but they have a nice selection of cute goods and kawaii stationary with nice prices!”
