“This is less of a review and more of a thank you to the owner and staff of this establishment for their kindness and generosity.
I've been helping a neighbor who lost both his legs recently and used to be a regular at K&T. He's been having a rough recovery. Anyways, someone from the shop reached out to him unsolicited just to check in on him since they hadn't seen him in a while. Whatever the person on the phone said, had my neighbor crying, you know, like tears of joy.
Long story short, they had someone personally come by and drop off 2 beautiful steaks at no cost and just to check in on him.
As a person who was born and raised in Astoria, it's heart-warming to know that businesses like this still exist amongst all the new and flashy places that have been opening up. Genuine kindness often goes unrecognized, so I wanted to highlight how much of a difference you all made in one person's life that day.
Thanks to the delivery guy (Jeff?) who looked like he went out of his way on a busy day just to drop off and check in.

“Lovely neighborhood market in Astoria. The produce covered all the usual fruits and vegetables, seemed fresh, and was a good price. I've personally been hunting for certain whole spices in NYC for a couple weeks, and I finally got cardamom pods, all spice, and star anise! It was a good price compared to other specialty groceries I've visited in Manhattan. I also got some cool goodies like pomegranate molasses. There is a huge selection of olive oil, olives, and a halal butcher in the back. The grocery store was clean inside and smelled deliciously of salted olives and other spices. The line moved a bit slowly, but the staff were friendly and helpful if you ask them to help you check prices (which aren't always posted clearly or labeled)”

We ordered crab and shrimp pastries as starters. Which caught my attention because they are whole jumbo shrimp!!! Something unusual in Brazil!!! The salmon was divine with steamed vegetables and al dente!
