Hunter Tavern
7433 Main Street, HunterMy husband and I ate here recently during a weekend getaway for our 25th anniversary. We went early for dinner and received outstanding service. The bartender gave us great recommendations for things to do in the area, and the chef went out of his way to be accommodating to a special request. The food itself (the short ribs w/ mashed potatoes and a fried chicken sandwich w/ slaw and pickles plus fries) was some of the best food either of us has had in a very long time. The fries were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. The short ribs were fall-apart tender and perfectly cooked.
We ate breakfast there in the morning as well, and although it was just a quick continental breakfast, a steaming coffee by the fireplace while looking out over the mountains was the perfect way to start the day.
The tavern's atmosphere was warm, inviting and relaxing. I can't speak for folks coming here for other occasions but for our couple's getaway, it was perfection start to finish. I can't recommend it enough.

Prospect at Scribner's
13 Scribner Hollow Road, Hunterthey have the best salmon i’ve had to date. the salmon skin was crispy and the fish was tender and moist. the restaurant had an amazing view of the mountains and the ambiance and service were great.

Hunter Mountain Brewery
7267 NY-23A, HunterGreat experience! Sarah, our waitress, was very nice and accommodating. The Indian food was great, and the ambience and views were excellent. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. It’s also pet-friendly, which was a big plus for us. Would definitely recommend and come back!
