“Thankful this gas station is in the area. My local deli isn't open 24 hours anymore. I had run out of toliet paper and it was the middle of the night. I'm Thankful this space is open 24/7. It's a bit of a walk from my location but it's better than not having toliet paper. If I have a sweet tooth they have baked goods in the corner of the gas station. The worker there is very friendly. I just get a little nervous coming over here but the bright lights make me feel a little safer. Great spot to come if you can't afford to door dash something to your house in the middle of the night.”
“Thank you Peter for helping me with the photo prints. You were really helpful and kind. I also saw Peter welcoming other customers like they were lifelong friends, pay him well !”
“I used to come to this fine market also to use the bathroom then buy an occasional beer or Snapple. Once the employees knew me, they wouldn't deny me the use of the restroom...I get it people do all types of things in the restroom, so staff has to be vigilant.”

“I have had a great experience here. The pharmacists are very helpful, and the techs are great. This is a very busy location from my perspective; they do a fantastic job managing the traffic and dealing with some demanding customers. Im always treated very well.”
“I recently visited Slovak Czech Varieties, and it offered a simple yet authentic introduction to Slovak and Czech comfort food in Long Island City. The establishment has a casual, almost deli-style atmosphere that reflects its focus on traditional Central European foods rather than a formal dining experience. The space feels modest and practical, allowing the attention to remain on the dishes themselves and the cultural heritage they represent.
The menu features a variety of classic Slovak and Czech specialties, many of which emphasize hearty ingredients and comforting preparation methods. Items such as sausages, dumplings, cabbage dishes, and traditional soups reflect the rustic style of Central European cooking. These foods are designed to be filling and satisfying, often combining savory meats with starch-based accompaniments that balance the plate.
One of the highlights of the visit was the variety of traditional products available. In addition to prepared meals, the shop often carries specialty items that reflect Slovak and Czech culinary traditions. This adds a cultural dimension to the experience, allowing visitors to explore ingredients and dishes that are not commonly found in mainstream restaurants.
The flavors across the dishes leaned toward the savory and comforting side, with seasoning based on garlic, paprika, herbs, and slow-cooked meats. These elements are hallmarks of the cuisine and help create meals that feel both rustic and authentic. The portions were generous and designed to reflect the home-style nature of the cooking.
Service during the visit was friendly and straightforward. Staff members maintained a welcoming attitude and were happy to explain items for diners unfamiliar with Slovak or Czech cuisine. This kind of interaction helps create a comfortable environment for those exploring the cuisine for the first time.
The overall atmosphere reflects the character of a cultural food shop where authenticity and tradition are prioritized over elaborate presentation. It is the type of place where visitors can experience genuine Central European flavors in a relaxed setting.
Overall, Slovak Czech Varieties offers a meaningful and authentic glimpse into Slovak and Czech culinary traditions. While it operates more like a deli or specialty shop than a full restaurant, it succeeds in delivering traditional flavors and preserving cultural food traditions within New York City.”
