“We got our engagement ring in December 2020. It was beautiful and I loved it but it was a little lobsided. It was one of those things where other people wouldn’t notice it, but I did every time I looked at it or if I looked at a photo of it too deeply. I understood it’s done by hand so it can’t be perfect. I just lived with it.
Fast forward 4 years, I’m pretty rough with my hands and I accidentally jammed it against something very hard. My setting bent a bit so I decided to take it in. Since I was already taking it in to get it straightened out, I figured I would fix the issue of the lobsided diamond as well.
I ended up speaking to the owner when I went to the service desk in the back. He was very understanding and said even if we bought it 4 years ago, he wants everyone who comes out of Ultimate to be 100% happy with their purchase. He ended up fixing it for free.
I went back to pick up my ring but I brought up a small issue with the prongs. They fixed it and called me again to pick it up. However, within the same day, Ronny (the other owner), called me personally and said she examined the ring and wasn’t satisfied so she would hold onto it for a few more day while they fix it.
Customer service was A++++. I’ve already recommended 4 friends who have bought their engagement rings there over the past few years and I will continue to do so. :)”

“Three DJ Rolex watches circa 1970's and 1980's were passed down to me. All three came with papers and two with cases. As a lay person who does not follow the watch market, it was difficult for me to determine their fair values.
On a whim, I decided to visit the Diamond District to sell them or at least find out what they are worth. I did my research and subreddit (r/rolex) and few other forums recommended Midtown Watches and other proprietors at DD.
I went to Midtown Watches first and showed them the watches with the papers & cases. They told me they would be interested in buying. After examining the watches, they were able to provide me with an itemized quote on each watch. The initial offer was lower than my price-range but I have no basis to know if my expectation was realistic.
After some back and forth, they were willing to come up a bit in price which I thought was fair and we closed the deal. The whole negotiation process was low-key and amicable. I did not feel I was being pressure to accept their offer.
I had my qualms about going to DD given their reputation but overall my experience was quite pleasant. I could only speak of my experience selling watches. Your mileage might vary.”
