“This place has very quickly become one of my favorite places to eat in the area PERIOD. The sandwich variety and quality is amazing. They’re more expensive than what I’m used to for a sandwich (I’m not from NYC), but as soon as you take a bite, you get it. I always forget to take a photo when I go here because I am so focused on eating! Portion size is large, and I usually eat one sandwich over two meals. Staff make excellent recommendations, are genuine, and usually offer a free sample of whatever they’ve just made, which is a very nice touch. Their house vodka sauce is delicious. They also make fresh pasta, and I’ve enjoyed their gnocchi. Will be back again and again and again.”

“They were so generous and allowed sampling of anything possible. I ended up getting the goose/pork Pate (good but I didn't like the packaging), Istrian vrat (pork), and manouri cheese (so good, a nice snacking cheese). They did charge me 9.99 a pound for the cheese when it said 7.99, so I would check for prices. I tried their dried beef and really liked it so might go for that next time.”

“Walk through the swinging doors and you’re transported to a German lodge. Had the goulash, jägerschnitzel, and the beer flight. A ton of food for us (2 people). Didn’t have room for the stammtisch coffe which means we have to come back. Good price, nice vibe.”

“I was recently looking to purchase some high quality brisket. After not seeing what I wanted at Whole Foods and a few other butchers in the Chelsea / East Village areas, I called Albanese Meats & Poultry and they were able to help.On the call Jennifer gave me a breakdown of all their cuts of beef they usually carry, and said that she could get some brisket for me the next day. She also explained how the cows she sources from are treated for the duration of their life (grass-fed and grain-finished, something to do with the marbling) and was very transparent.The meat looked very good when I went and picked it up the next day. Nice color, appeared very fresh. I have had bad experiences with other butchers who freeze their meat beforehand which makes it difficult to know how long it will last. Jennifer told me exactly how long the cut I purchased would last and what to expect in terms of coloration & oxidation after 2, 3, 4 days. It is amazing how they do not freeze anything at Albanese Meats & Poultry and that they make it a point to source fresh meat for customer orders.This is the best butcher I've been to in Manhattan. Not to mention the price was great for high-quality meat!”

“Great cuts, great prices! The thing I like most about this place is that they don't care about your ethnicity. Being it's a primarily spanish speaking place, I would expect to get looked past or misunderstood. No matter, they took my order multiple times now and did not scoff at me being different than most of their clientele. Their cuts are excellent, they will cut it any way you like. Their prices are on par with grocery stores and much cheaper than other butchers', and the quality is top notch.BE aware you can wait some time especially on the weekend, but it's worth the wait, and they do have a ticket system which helps prevent others from cutting in line. The owner (I believe) who works the register is very friendly, and always asks if I found everything I needed.Las Americas also has some very hard to find spanish staples, which I have searched high and low for with no luck. If you are in the neighborhood give them a try!My only complaint, albeit a small one and not worth a star off, is their hours. I don't get off of work until 7PM and they are usually closed by that time. No matter, I will go out of my way to get my meat on the weekend.Lastly, regarding the complaint that they handle the meat and money together is completely unfounded. I've been coming here for years, and it has always been completely separate sides of the store. The butcher (never not wearing gloves) writes the amounts on a piece of paper, which you walk with to the OTHER SIDE OF THE STORE, where you pay. You then bring the receipt back to the butcher who hands you the product. The cahier is always wearing gloves as well. Unfounded reviews are the detriment to small businesses, and it's a shame they even exist. Furthermore the lady saying this has left not 1 positive review elsewhere, so she's just fundamentally upset.”
