I want to give a huge shoutout to Dameon J., the store manager at Extra Space Storage on Empire Boulevard in Brooklyn. Recently, I received a notice that my storage unit was due for a price increase, raising my monthly fee to just over $150—a big jump from the less than $100 I was initially paying, even with my military discount. Naturally, I was concerned about the hike.
Today, I approached Dameon in a kind and respectful manner, hoping to find a solution. He listened attentively, acknowledged the rising costs, and genuinely apologized. Then, he went above and beyond by exploring ways to help. He suggested we check out a smaller unit, which ended up being the perfect solution! By downgrading, I was able to significantly reduce my monthly fee to something much more manageable. I truly appreciate Dameon’s willingness to assist and his empathetic approach.
On top of that, the facility itself is always immaculate. My unit, and the property in general, has consistently been in pristine condition. It’s clean, well-maintained, and I’ve never had any issues with pests or unpleasant odors. The upkeep here is impeccable, and it shows that the team takes pride in their work.
To other customers: always remember to approach staff with kindness and respect. The people behind the desk, like Dameon, are there to help, but they don’t control everything. You never know how far a polite conversation can go, and in my case, it made all the difference.

“Let me start by saying—this has to be the best Extra Space Storage in NYC, maybe even the best storage facility in the city, period. The facility is spotless. I didn’t see a single rat dropping, no roach, nothing—and for me, that’s incredibly important. Cleanliness is clearly a priority here, and it shows. The entire place is extremely well maintained, even the bathroom, which is rare when it comes to storage facilities. When I arrived to store my belongings, I realized I had overlooked an important detail: my items needed to be kept in a climate-controlled environment, and unfortunately, this location doesn’t offer that. I had a bit of a meltdown—but Justin, the store manager, was incredibly kind and accommodating. He listened to my concerns (and frustration with myself), reassured me that we’d find a solution—and we did. Moving is stressful enough, so I deeply appreciated the time and attention both Justin and Asia gave me. They went out of their way to make sure I felt comfortable and supported during the process.I've stored at several places before, and this one stands out because the staff genuinely care about what they do. The level of customer service here is exceptional. I sincerely hope upper management and corporate take notice—Justin and Asia deserve recognition for the superb job they’re doing. I met Shaquan in person and he showed me two units and I was able to secure one of the units. This all happened in one day. The rates are great, and the customer service was excellent.
