They have a great selection of mid to high end apparel. The merchandise is usually for sale at the regular retail price, but when I arrived they offered me a ten percent discount. Generally, great service and selection and you might even get a slightly reduced price.”

“Joe's the man. I came to fill up my CO2 tank for my carbonated water. Since the request is a little inordinary, I had to call around and Joe was the most pleasant, kind and informational for my needs. Inside is a little rinky but it's a paintball shop so that's to be expected. In and out in 20 minutes, very quick and good conversation. Great value for the service, just a little out there so it's better accessible if you have a car.”

“I have bought many kaputas for the summer. They would all fall apart in such a small amount of time. I decided I needed to have a quality product. I came to Primo because I was told they have a good product. I got there and there was a French gentleman who was very professional and gave me unsurpassed service. He tailored my kaputa. I finally tried it on . It felt like it was custom made. Tailoring was spot on! The kaputa I could see the the feel and the fit that this kaputa would last me longer and look better than the other summer kaputas I have bought in the past. Also. I came on a Friday. I did not realize the store was closed. I called the owner and he came over to give it me even though he was officially closed. If you need a kaputa this should be your first and only stop. It's worth every penny”

“Every big city with a surf scene needs that one surf shop that probably makes more money selling imported Japanese clothing than they do on actual surfboards. Pilgrim is that shop for NYC, and their presence on the scene has helped put New York a little more firmly on the surf world's map.Do I want to pay $300 for hand-sewn linen pants made by some kind of fisherman-painter who lives in a van? Not often. But sometimes you can get an end of season sale that makes the clothes more affordable. And they're certainly nice clothes.As for the surfboards... they're expensive as well. They're pretty much all hand-shaped and they cost about double the price of a big-name board from Channel Islands or Lost or whatever. But it's kinda nice having these expensive hipster boards circulating around the NYC area because it means those of us who aren't rich can grab them on the resale market when the original tech/finance bro buyers inevitably lose interest. And they're nice boards, for sure. Just note that not all the employees actually know that much about surfboards. They can all help you with the basics but beyond a certain point they'll need to refer you to one of the resident experts. Anyway: I give them five stars, because I only buy their stuff on sale or second-hand... but I'm glad to have it around.”
