Union St Veterinary Hospital
1718 Union St, SchenectadyMy elderly cat was at his end stage in life and I called this place because it was suggested by a friend. I was not a client. They fit me in, eased my baby’s suffering and were caring through the whole process. The woman I spoke to initially on Monday morning, around 8:40, was so sweet ? her voice made me feel so much better after a night of seeing my man suffer. You could hear the compassion and care. Answered all my questions regarding the price of everything. It made me feel at ease. I’ve worked in vet med and I know how euthanasia can just become procedure, but Dr Hartman was very gentle with my cat and I appreciated his straightforward but compassionate approach. Hoping when I pick up my boys ashes I can schedule an appointment for my other senior cat for a blood panel. Would love to make this place my new vet.

Saratoga Coffee Traders
123 Jay St, SchenectadyNice coffee shop in a hip area on Jay St. Owner and service are friendly. Good atmosphere. Pricing is average for coffee. Ordered a lg hot Skybar and 1 lg iced Smore's and was disappointed on the flavor profiles. Not sure if they forgot to flavor both coffee's but both tasted like straight espresso. The coffee was also bitter compared to most places which could mean a couple things but are easy fixes. I'll give them another try. On a street with 2 other coffee shops they need to make some minor adjustments and I think they'll be a hit!

Wolf Hollow Brewing Company
6882 Amsterdam Rd, SchenectadyMy husband and I have been going to Wolf Hollow since the beginning, when they started in a Grange Hall. It's amazing the expansion they have made. Wolf Hollow has always had solidly good beers. I have probably tried every single one they've made. My favorite mainstay they have is Nun the Wiser. It's just a solid light lager. My favorite beer is their El Lobo Loco (which is a summer beer). My husband favorite seasonal is their Oktoberfest. This trip we had the Blackberry Pie and my husband got the Katie's Irish red. The blackberry pie is a mild sour. They do have a few non-beer items including some ciders and some local wines. They also have some non-alcoholic beers available to purchase. Wolf Hollow has a wonderful atmosphere. They are family and dog friendly (outside only for dogs). They have a nice cozy tap room. Outside they have a pavilion, picnic areas, and a great patio. There are also sandboxes for kids. During the winter you can sit next to a fire pit and even snowshoe on the property. For food they do rotating food trucks. Some of their regular food trucks include Two for the Road and Burger 21. All of the staff is very friendly, and very knowledgeable on beer.

The Whistling Kettle
138 Jay St, SchenectadyGreat restaurant! The tea that they're known for is delicious, the service is kind and attentive, and the food is good. There are relatively limited options at least for more picky eaters, but they allow you to make adjustments or substations pretty easily. $20 dollars per person for a meal and tea.

Wagon Train BBQ
671 Mariaville Rd, SchenectadyWe just used Wagon Train to cater our engagement party. I worked directly with Danielle, and she was beyond helpful on guiding us to how much of everything we should order. I also have food allergies that she was more than willing to find out more info about. We ordered wing, pulled pork, brisket, chicken and corn bread and everyone at our party loved all of it! Personal favorite was the pulled pork!!

Buds On Jay
185 Jay St, SchenectadyThis place peaked my interest because it is always jam packed when I come downtown on Sundays. Yesterday I decided to give it a try and all I can say is wow, I found my new favorite spot in Schenectady!I had a hard time choosing my Latte because so many sounded so good, but I went with one of their favorites on the chalk sign, the Baklava, YUM!!!! I got a banana muffin to go with it and a breakfast sandwich that had avocado and spring mix, and both were delicious. They told me the muffins are made there and you could tell, fresh and amazing. ♡While I was waiting for my food (which was not long, surprising with the line).I heard one of the staff from the kitchen talking with people as she brought their food, and I loved she knew so many people by name. They obviously have a lot of regulars, and I can see why! The food was excellent and the service and atmosphere felt like being a guest in a friend's home. I'll definitely be back! Great job Bud's on Jay!- Lauren
