DoubleTree by Hilton Utica is a historic hotel right in the downtown area, close to the auditorium and Nexus Center. The beautiful lobby offers a historic and beautiful scene, especially during the holidays. Guests find the rooms to be large, spacious, clean, modern, comfortable, and beautiful, with some featuring nice big bathrooms or a jacuzzi tub. The staff is generally described as friendly, attentive, and focused on the guest experience, with warm cookies provided at check-in. There is plenty of free parking.
However, the property is also noted as a bit old, banged up, and in need of a refresh, with some maintenance issues like doors that don't close right. The on-site bar is considered alright, but the restaurant may not be open for early breakfast, and the hotel does not have an ATM, which some find inconvenient. The cost can be higher, but many feel the location, comfort, and quality provide good value.
Starting with the friendly desk staff, this hotel was wonderful. The front desk staff were welcoming, the lobby is elegant, the rooms spacious and very clean, and for our 4 days of work at the Nexus Center the location was excellent. The only thing we struggled with was how to use the remote control.

Great place to stay if you find yourself in Utica. Highly recommend it if you are planning to spend some time in central NY. We are doing college tours and wanted to see the Baseball Hall of Fame. Utica is a greatly underrated food town and well worth a stop.
