“Our kitchen remodel is finally done, and now I need to tell you all about Macar's Interiors. When I walked into Macar’s well over a year ago, I had my contractor secured already, but I had absolutely no idea how I was going to remodel our kitchen to give us more space. I asked the woman who greeted me (Jackie, who turned out to be the wife of the owner) if they did interior designs for people, and she told me that yes, her husband would come and take a look at our house to come up with a few different kitchen remodel plans for us. When Cary, the owner of Macar’s, arrived at our house, he said that it would be quite challenging to come up with something to give us more space in the kitchen, because there was hot water baseboard heat everywhere, windows, doors, and all sorts of other issues that would prevent us from doing what we initially wanted. He said he would take some time and think about it, and he did. He came up with three excellent plans for our kitchen, one of which we chose. After interacting with Cary, we decided to buy our cupboards and flooring from Macar’s mostly because we were so impressed with Cary and his degree of expertise. This was one of the best decisions we ever made. Our experience with Macar’s was nothing short of incredible. It seems like everything went wrong with our kitchen remodel from needing major asbestos abatement before we could even get started to having our contractor break three ribs in his back just as he was supposed to get started. We were WAY over budget, but the price I was given by Macar’s remained the same. Bottom line- these are honest, lovely, hardworking people. Not only that, but every single time we had a crisis or a decision that we could not make with our non-creative math brains, Cary was there for us. He helped us choose our flooring. He helped us choose our back splash. He helped us choose our lighting. He talked me off the ledge multiple times when I was losing my mind because our contractor was unable to do what he had promised, and the asbestos abatement was so very challenging. I am convinced that if we had bought our cabinetry from anywhere else, I probably wouldn’t have survived my kitchen remodel. That is the integral part that Cary Derrigo played in our remodel. If you are thinking about working with Macar’s, do not hesitate. They are a top notch company. We talked with several other places before going to Macar’s and there was absolutely no comparison. Other places just want to sell you stuff and have you disappear. The people at Macar’s truly care.”

“I have been dealing with Whites for over 45 years now. It warms me to think of the days when Roger and Brad and Sarah and Ted were always there and ready to help from the counter to the yard and beyond.
It is still much like the original Whites today, other than the family atmosphere that once was their trademark. The counter people of today are still great and are always there to take care of customers, treating us like we are valued friends. Many customers are still loyal patrons after generations of shopping there. My only concern is that the dynamics have changed in a way that does not cultivate the same kind of loyalty from customers. Still a 5/5 for me though.”

“Love this place. I spend way too much time and money in this place. Staff is amazing though all the way from the loaders to the pro desk. Very helpful and friendly. I've gotten some great deals here just by asking for a better price. Bathrooms are always pretty clean as well.”

“Lowe's manager Zach saved our bacon when we sailed (literally) into Cape Vincent anchorage with a mechanical issue that needed tools we didn't have aboard. Without an Uber/Lyft/Taxi available anywhere we checked for any area hardware store that offered delivery and found Lowe's. Max told us by phone how to place the order online but online estimated delivery was Sunday by 8pm. We needed the tools ASAP so called again and the team escalated to Zach, the store manager who not only understood the challenging situation we were in, but made a call on our behalf to the delivery service mgmt to make a plea for delivery first thing the next morning and waited on hold for 20 or so minutes while the delivery supervisor found someone who would commit to an early Sunday morning delivery. And even more, Zach called me on Sunday morning as soon as the driver picked up the order and was on the way because we had to get on our dinghy and get to shore to meet him.

The driver, Carlos, was also incredible. He called to say he was having trouble finding where to bring the delivery and then drove right down to the dock to get it to us. His delivery photo is going to be pretty funny I'd guess. A bag at the end of a dock!

No sooner than we returned by dinghy to our sailboat and gotten the tools aboard, the sky opened up a thunderstorm so we are forever grateful for the timing of the whole process!

We got the repair done and were pulling up anchor in a heavy rain by 10:30. We're now making our way through the St Lawrence Thousand Islands region making great time!

Zach saved us from missing our next port! What a great example of customer service! And he did it all with a calm voice and going the extra mile.
