“There aren't many things I buy from Trader Joe's because most of what they sell is unhealthy. However, they have decent prices for dried fruits and frozen fruits, and interestingly, potted plants. The staff is always friendly. The parking lot is small compared to the number of people shopping in the store.

“I’ve been shopping at Kim’s for about two years now and have nothing but excellent things to say. I try to make an effort to support small, family-owned businesses as much as possible, because I value the connections you can surely make with those who run them. I’ve been very fortunate to become close with Daniel and his wonderful parents through visiting their lovely store. It’s always a pleasure to stop by and immediately be be met with kindness and treated like a dear friend. It’s so special to find meaningful connections like that, so I’m very grateful for this store and the sweetest family behind it! ( ˊᵕˋ )♡Not to mention the selection is extensive, organized and well-priced. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve bought from here ~ even when I try new and unfamiliar things. Notable items include the homemade kimchi and my favorite little jasmine tea drink, as well the amazing selection of sweets and housewares. You can find beautiful sake sets and bowls adorned with cats and other cute little designs. The kimchi here is quite honestly THE BEST in Asheville ~ the flavor is perfectly authentic, and needless to say I’ll never be buying kimchi from any other markets again. Kim’s forever! <3”

“We stopped in to look for fresh Thai peppers?️ They did have Thai peppers, which was good, but the peppers weren't fresh, which was disappointing? There was a lot of good stuff otherwise, including cool serve ware & some tasty Shrimp Snacks ? Worth the visit??”
“I absolutely LOVE shopping at this location. Brie and Meredith are such amazing workers and they are so lovely whenever I come in and shop. The store is always amazing and well stocked!”
“TIENDA EL QUETZAL 10 July 2025
I drove by this place multiple times over the course of a few days while I was away at a workshop in Asheville, NC. What I noticed was that this place seemed busier than a gas station. Then I noticed that it was a Mexican restaurant, and then finally I saw people coming out with take-out bags, so I was drawn to go in.
It's really tough to choose (for me at least) what to try when you don't think you're ever going to go back to the establishment again. I suppose you choose what sounds the best, but sometimes there are sleepers on the menu that just need a little thoughtful discovery.
I tried the tacos here, wasn't too hungry before starting my travel back home. The menu is on a board above the counter and it really is a hole in the wall. It's one of those places I am reluctant to mention because it could change if it got more popular. So I'm just going to report that I did look at what others were eating and the whole menu, small, was represented. Burritos, all day breakfasts, Tacos, Sandwiches, fried plantains (I wish I had tried them because I saw them on everyone's plates!), fried yukka, wings. Although the spread of the menu was broad, from burgers and Philly steaks to carne asada and a Quoetzal breakfast, it was honed down to delicious. I am getting hungry just thinking about what I saw and all the possibilities they offered. Oh well, back to the exercise regimen.
The other part is that the not the hole in the wall part is a grocery store with a lot of beverages at the back wall in a huge cooler. I got a Boing! guava pulp beverage, drank it quickly, then got a coconut milk beverage with the gummy squares. I didn't really explore much in there either, except for the drink case. I was looking for a Topo Chico, which is getting easier to find these days. They were sold out, and so I was forced to choose something other than the easy route. It was a complete spectrum as well, from tamarindo to strawberry soda to energy drinks, but from Mexico. My local mexican grocery hasn't carried these yet.
I'm kind of damning myself now for not going in as soon as my radar went off. The two tacos I got were carnitas and al pastor. The meats were shredded and in small pieces. The tacos had one layer of corn tortilla each and I might not believe you if you had said they were not made there. They came with 2 salsas. One was made with a green melon (I think) and that's all I know other than they maybe had a Carolina twang on the vinegar side. Nice heat, not overly spicy, and the flavors were well melded. Cilantro, onion, and 2 small wedges of lime were tucked into the take out boxes. If you ate there, you got a basket with a wax paper liner. Somehow my order which I ate there was made to go.
I've included some pictures as well, of the exterior (strip mall type storefront off the side of the road), the grocery aisles, the beverage cooler, and the owner, who I got a live photo of by accident and it's so cute how he gives a thumbs up while breaking into a smile. I hope they stay in business a very long time. I should also mention that the owner spoke mainly Spanish and that he was kind and patient as I tried asking all my questions to narrow down what to order. I am studying Spanish, for one reason, to talk more about food. Happy eating!”
“Prices on standard items is a bit much, but it's pretty convenient. I love the locally made home items, like incense and candles.
Bakery and deli, with so many vegan options, is where it's at. The rice pudding is delicious. Wish they had more variety of vegan sandwish/wrap options like they did a year or so ago - with the vegan sea bacon croissants and other goodies that aren't just the black bean burritos.”
“Best grocery store to shop at right now with this current economy. However options are less so you get what you get if you want to save some money and stretch out your groceries some.”
“This place has everything that you could need or want including delicious breakfast sandwiches and other hot food. I’ve driven out of my way for their hot and fresh breakfast food. I just had a sausage egg and cheese biscuit and it’s a total 5/5. If you need cat food, they got it, if you need beans, they got it, if you need an energy drink, they got it!”
“The staff over there are absolutely incredible. No only knowledgeable about everything they offer, and with a huge selection of delicious teas, sugars and spices, but they are all amazing people who I guarantee will brighten your day, because Irish sure made mine better today.”
“Was greeted immediately upon walking in. The lady was very helpful guiding us through how the store was set up. Kindly offered samples. The olive oil I purchased is delicious!”
“This place is a great little find, with lots of variety in a small space. They also have fresh Lion's Mane. Just look at this guy! I want to pet it and eat it at the same time :)”

“Ingles is an exceptional grocery store! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the cleanliness and organization of the store. The wide selection of fresh produce, quality meats, and a variety of international products always exceeds my expectations. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and ready to assist you with a smile. Ingles consistently delivers on freshness, affordability, and customer service, making it my go-to grocery destination. I highly recommend it to anyone in search of a fantastic shopping experience.”
“Great shopping for the area. Decent store selection such as a food, jewelry, sunglasses, sneaker head shop, Maurices, Old Navy, Halloween Express in parking lot, Shoe Depot, Dillard's, miscellaneous pop-up stands, etcetera.”

“It’s an Aldi’ what can you say. I guess their cheese selection is not as big as some other Aldi’s I’ve been to in Asheville area,
They were low on a lot of frozen items, my guess is they are slowly replacing frozen food after 2+ weeks of no power in Asheville.”
“I love this store. The selection is amazing and with that I would expect prices to be super high and they are really reasonable. It's a small store, but it is wonderful”
“Excellent hot bar, salad bar, fresh sushi and pizzas! Produce is fresh! Large variety of beers, wines, and ciders. The store is very clean and well laid out. Customer service (produce, sushi, and pizza counter) was excellent. I am giving this store 4 stars because I went for lunch 5 days in a row, and all 5 days there was only 1 cashier. I HATE self checkout....please consider employing more humans.”
“I shop here quite often. You just have to check the dates, some things are expired, but there are several that are not. Cheaper than going to a lot of your big name grocery stores.”
“Just fyi . This is a really old little country store for sure. Really just ment to serve the surrounding community with just emergency essential type things. Remember cash only. Absolutely no debit or credit or checks JUST ACCEPTS CASH! Yes he sales gas,out of one old pump. He's as nice as he can be. No cigarettes tho did see motor oil and transmission fluid, and gum. Thank Goodness he did have gas cause after winding up a long long way from the nearest ANYTHING we thought we were so screwed! Thank God I saw this little store and thankfully he did have gas.”
“It's quick gas--what more is there to say except fair but not exceptional prices, self service, lotsa pumps and conveniently located near the I-26 and downtown Weaverville.”
“Always have been reliable and trusted. Many of my family members have worked there from Stores 1 & 2 and many following stores.
Ingles is and always has been a family focused store. Thank you Bob for another great legacy from our Mountains.”
“Well stocked location with a friendly owner that can help you select what you need. The store has everything fromm deli meats, candy, canned goods, seasoning, teas, etc... Don't let the store size fool you, this place is popular with locals and has lots of customers going in and out. Highly recommend stopping here!”
“Shave more is owned by Ingles so expect the same prices. It is easier to maneuver and get in and out of save more sometimes so I will stop there off of Patton Avenue before I get home. There are less crowds so it can be quicker.”
“Wonderful selection with many many vegan options. We stumbled across vegan salami on sale at the deli and it was delicious. Julio was manning the counter and did a fantastic job. Great addition to the staff. Keep up the great work. Updated from previous review on 2026-02-14”
“I was in town for almost a week and found myself at Ingles almost everyday. It's a fantastic store, I will definitely be returning when I'm in town again.”
“Went in to get some peppermint oil for a friend that was suffering from headaches. Any and all oils should be on the same aisle not two different aisles in my opinion”

“The nicest, cleanest, and most friendly grocery store. They have everything that you could possibly need from hot food to an olive bar. My kind of grocery store. Highly recommend.”
“This store never seases to amaze us with its assortiment, cleanliness, freshness, intelegence of employees, and of course, the owner, Tatiana who is always honestly advises us on the best quality products! The best store!”
“I grew up in AZ, lived in CO for 33 years, and now live in New Mexico. This is hands down the best carniceria that I’ve been too. WS true in late 2020 when I first went during a trip through Asheville, and true today as I traveled through.
The fresh tortillas are better than I’ve found in Albuquerque so far during the last 2 years. I picked up everything needed for grilled carne asada street tacos today and made them at my camp site. My belly is beyond happy right now”
“Excellent place to shop, and this habit of mine was cultivated as a kid growing up in Miami, Florida. Mom always shopped Publix. You might say it's a family tradition. The stores are always clean , shelves are neat, and staff are always friendly and helpful. There is a 5% senior discount on Wednesday, many buy one get one free offers. And if you are not happy with anything bought there you can ask for a refund even if you ate it completely. If you don't believe me, ask them!”
