“As a new cut flower farm (Tar Heel Flowers LLC) growing mostly in raised beds, we have purchased many loads of soil mixes over the years from multiple local vendors, and I can honestly say the PFGC soil blend is the best in the Chapel Hill/Durham area! The mix is incredibly homogeneous with few, if any, large clumps, no weed seeds (this is HUGE, as one of our primary reasons for growing in raised beds is to reduce weed pressure/labor spent weeding), moisture retentive while simultaneously draining excess water, and rich in nutrients including micronutrients (per multiple soil tests). Having received soil from other vendors that was marketed as “similar,” I can confidently say this is the best value, as well. On 5 cu yds you may save $50 elsewhere, but you sacrifice quality in the form of clay clods and tenacious weeds! Deliveries have always been orderly and professional as well! My only gripe is that they can only deliver 5 cu yds per load, but I’ve never had a problem getting them to deliver a 2nd load same day. If you’re in the market for a premium raised bed soil mix, look no further than PFGC!”
