“After hitting a curb, trying to get into the car park at Duke clinic in the early morning I came out after a full day of tests and appointments to very low tire. There was no way I was gonna make it home to Wilson! The crew at the Chapel Hill tire on Hillsborough Road not only checked my tire, they fixed it 45 min after they had already closed! Gave my son a hot wheel and sent us on our way with no charge! They were so kind about all of it!”

The team at thrifty tire is super honest, friendly, quick, and affordable. These guys do solid work that they stand by and they have never tried to up charge or take advantage. I tell all my friends to hit this spot up. Bop over to Super Taqueria and grab an agua fresca and some tacos while you wait for your oil change. PSA they are opening a location in Hillsborough, so check it out if that's your neck of the woods.

“New car only a few days old and got a huge screw stuck in my tire. Put air in but as I had a ton of errands to run, knew I needed to have it looked at asap. Stopped in and they saw me right away - on a Saturday!! While I stayed in the car they jacked it up took the screw out and patched. He even checked all the other tires to make sure I was safe and charged me almost next to nothing. I am so happy I found them! Will definitely be back when I need tires!”

“I was a customer for many years but recently moved to Philadelphia. I miss this great honest independent shop. This is one of the businesses that l wish l could have taken with me.
Up here in the Philladelphia area l took a car to Mavis discout tires for tires, and they indicated that all four struts needed replaced which l had them do. The next oil change l came in for they said 2 struts were worn out and needed replaced. Mavis mechanics are apparently on commission. After speaking to the manager about the incident he admitted that the previous service righter had not put the information in correctly indicating that all four struts were replaced the previous visit. So after $1700 have very little confidence that any of that work really needed done. Cheaper chain retailers can end up costing much more money than a shop you can trust. This is an example of why when l find a good locally recommended auto shop, AC technician, plumber, or electrician l try value them and treat them with the respect they deserve. l then find that l am valued customer not just a person to be taken advantage of. I miss this place so much.”
“Absolute great service and experience!! We had just gotten in town for a surgery at Duke and accidentally hit an open man hole missing its cover and blew a tire. After calling around to Walmart and Sam’s, who didn’t have the correct tire in stock I called Mavis and they not only had the correct tire and were able to fit me in same day at last minute notice, but came in half the price of the others. Such a fun and friendly staff!”

Nate and his team were very thorough; they communicated detailed updates and explained the steps they took throughout the troubleshooting and repair of my vehicle. They found an optimal solution for something that was over-diagnosed elsewhere, and gave excellent service for an honest price. I will be back in the future.”
“I'm from out of town and my truck broke down on the side of the highway in the construction zone in rush hour traffic. I was barely off the road and in a real bind to not get hit and with being hours from anyone that could help. I was lucky enough that it was directly below this shop. I walked up at 4:56 and the owner was under the hood of a vehicle trying to get finished and leave at 5 to pick up his kids. I told him the bind I was in and took a minute to get my some supplies and a part I needed, and told me what to do to hopefully get back going. It all worked and I got out of there and made it back. I was so thankful for his help and the extra time and money he saved me. I would trust this shop with anything needed.”
