“I am by no means a hydraulic expert but when I hit a snag in my project Woodie walked me through the various options I had to rectify the situation. Both times I have come to Cross Hose on this project, Woodie has come outside and looked at the truck I was having problems with and quickly came up with a straight forward and cost effective solution to the problem. I will definitely be returning in the future.”
“I found Harbor Freight recently while looking for less expensive tools. I find their products and prices above expectations. I can't afford top of the line tools, but don't really need them for occasional repairs. The value I find here is beyond acceptable and the power tools are as good as the overpriced tools in other box stores. I highly recommend checking them out!”
“This store is so interesting because it literally has everything and I love it! I’ve gotten so many cool things from this store and it’s definitely a great place to stop at while in downtown. There’s something for everyone in there, from kids to adults. My personal favorite thing about this store is the variety of flavored sodas they have.”
“Super friendly and helpful staff. The kinda place you end up shooting the breeze with fellow customers and store staff. They have a good selection of hardware items and garden items.”
“Clean, Employees Helpful. If they have it they'll direct you Or Get it for you. When I went it was Day before Ice Storm, There were a Lot of People. Nobody Was Rushing around Except Shoppers. There was a Very Large line of people waiting for a Delivery Truck I was in the line (Wrong Line) Everyone was Talking and Socializing. I Realized I was in the Wrong Line, However it wasn't an Imposition Because Everyone was So Pleasant, Then when I discovered it, We All got a Good Chuckle!!! It Was Okay. Because I wasn't Being Laughed At, I was Being Laughed With!!! Big Different then it Could Be.”
“Shelly was the manager today and she honored a coupon when she didn’t have to, all to keep our business. We really appreciate the thoughtfulness and will absolutely be loyal customers.”

“What a gem! Any woodworker ought to be grateful not only that this business exists, but for how well a small business like this is run. Refreshing personal service, expertise, and awesome selection. Makes me want to stop using the internet and always drive to the store! Bought a Festool Kapex and they had it shipped from another location. It arrived quickly, and will be spreading the word far and wide about this great business!”
“I'm a local and they are very nice and friendly. They remember me and my wife and what we usually get and Mimi knows my voice when I call for pizza and just the little things that make you feel good about the day is why I love going there. Plus it keeps money in the community.”

“When no one else could get the clear tongue and groove that I needed to match an existing wood ceiling Jennings did. They found a supplier and got me what I needed in just 3 days. Even in these troubled times they went above and beyond to help a small customer out when my local builders supply in Waynesville couldn't help me. Thanks so much Jennings.”

“I didn't make a purchase but the employee was very helpful and called around to other distributors to help me find what I needed. I would highly recommend them based of the customer service experience.”

“A huge thank you to Kelly Semones and Holston Gases who came through for me quickly and efficiently after I had been badly let down by Southern States. I was on the auto fill program with Southern States which means they can see your propane level from their location and they don't let you run out of gas that way.
Not only did they let me run out of gas last week in bitterly cold weather, they didn't come for 8 days and left me high and dry in a VERY cold house. Desperate, I called Kelly at Holston who arranged to set up an account for me to get their service, but he actually drove out to my house in Swannanoa from Waynesville and bought me a portable propane heater to help warm the place for the weekend. That was over and above the call of duty and so kind and considerate of him and I really appreciated it. Now I am sitting in a warm house with my gas stove up and running again all thanks to Kelly Semones and Holston Gases. If you need propane for residential heat like me, give them a call - you won't regret it!”
“Counter staff is very helpful. Great product knowledge with speedy service. Their cheerful smiling faces always brighten up even the worst of days. They even cooled off the hot cast iron fittings that had been sitting out in the sun for me.”
“Awesome. I'm from way out of town, my company's home office is in Louisiana. I needed some last minute oddball items for a job in Mooresville NC, these guys had a bunch of them. You made me look good, thanks.”
“Idk how Mimi’s only has 2 stars and Griffins has 4. Mimi’s is way better. Cleaner, nicer people, doesn’t ridiculously mark up prices and it doesn’t smell bad in there like Griffins does.. if you live in Edneyville, you know Mimi’s is far superior”
“Awesome Customer Service! Had a broken nail gun and just stopped in and asked if they could look at it. They just didn't look at it, they dropped what they were doing and fixed it on the spot. Wish more business were like this!”
“Love Home Depot especially the one on Strickland. The people at the Prodesk specially Ryan, Adam and Lorenzo are amazing. I really bend over backwards to make sure you get the best service.”
“Travis helped us tremendously choose the right door and wood for our home. He knows his products and makes sure we were pleased with our choice. Many thanks, Travis”
“Excellent, friendly service. always. Today they went above and beyond to help with a delivery. We would have had to wait for 2 weeks but they squeezed us in to the delivery route today, without me even asking! These are the things that separate good from great, to me.”
“I really appreciate that the cashiers in the garden area take the time to radio and confirm that the mulch is actually in stock before ringing me up. That’s a big difference compared to the Smokey Park Highway store, where I’ve been charged first and then found out they were out of stock making me have to go back inside just to process a return.
Thank you for doing a better job and making the process smoother.”
“5 stars! I don’t usually read 5 star or 1 star reviews because they tend to be lazily written or they are valid but from a one time experience. Today I was looking for something very specific and a manager that has a desk that’s right about the center and rear of the building took longer than an hour, if not more, to help me compare different models and designs with both hands a on comparisons as well as looking up reviews. There was another guy helping me and I couldn’t figure out who the manager was until I looked around with them and asked. I was also on a very critical timeframe and I could tell they understood and really empathized. This was some of the best customer service I’ve ever had at any of the Lowe’s stores I’ve been to and believe I have been in many and frequently. The manager I speak of has helped me before with something else very specific and was awesome then as well. Great sense of humor too! Thanks to you both and the rest of your team!”
“Home Depot in Asheville (especially the Fairview Rd store) is my regular stop for home stuff.
Pros:
Strong in-store selection and stock — like DeWalt cordless tools, Behr paints, pressure-treated lumber, mulch, and plants for our mountain yard.
Super helpful associates, e.g., Roy in lumber or folks at the Pro Desk for Ryobi kits, Milwaukee tools, or bigger jobs. Staff often walks you to items and gives solid advice.
Competitive prices, reliable tool rentals, easy in-store returns, and clean, well-organized stores.
Cons:
Delivery can be spotty.
Busy times mean longer lines, especially weekends.
Great for in-person shopping and local projects in the Asheville area. Skip delivery for heavy items if possible. Convenience and variety keep me coming back.”
“I Have been going to Mountain Variety for about 15 years Now. Ever Interaction has been Positive, They do All the Maintenance and Preventative Maintenance for My Chainsaws, Even electric, my weed eaters, and Most of my lawn equipment. I collect old tools and even When they might think 🤔 their Junk, Nick will sharpen and repair them. I had become real attached to A Ryobi weed eater that was the 4 stroke and because Nick continued to Repair it Until there was Truly No More Life to It. It lasted me about 8 or 9 years. I'm Not Gentle with Equipment. Anyone else would have told me to Toss it at about the 6 Year mark. 😆 LoL”
