Grand Olde Station Restaurant
502 Blue Ridge Rd, Lake ToxawayIts clientele are rich folks on vacation at the lake who never complain when bikers show up to drink at their bar. The managers sometimes look a bit nervous about it, but the staff are always cool mountain folk and often bike riders themselves. The bartender asked me about tattoos. Another of the kitchen staff stopped by to ask me about my gear, which he admired. The owner I don't know, but he's clearly a local history aficionado whom I suspect I'd get along with well. The whole place is full of pieces of local history, photographs from long ago in the mountains, historic weaponry as well as framed news clippings. It's a little pricey for the mountains, though it'd be cheap in a city. The food is always good, and they keep an interesting and rotating selection of local brews on tap.

The Restaurant at The Greystone Inn
220 Greystone Ln, Lake ToxawayI can't believe more people do not know about this gorgeous hidden gem. The Greystone Inn literally transports you back in time to a day when things were slower and personalised Service really mattered. I'd suggest beginning your experience in their historic mansion and having either wine or cocktails and light bites by one of the three cozy fireplaces. You will feel like you are in an old English Manor House with your private staff. While it may sound simple the house made potato chips with homemade onion dip take a common delicacy to an entire different level. Other delicious offerings include cheese and charcuterie boards, Caprese sandwich, and personalised pizzas. Then you take a short stroll down to the Lakeside dining room. Plenty of two tops next to the windows offering sweeping views of this mountain Lake. The menu is not overly extensive but extremely varied to include various protein options including fish, delicious soups, salads and vegetables- and even an impressive array of gluten-free and vegan options. Hubby started with a lovely crisp Caesar salad, followed by crab stuffed salmon. I opted for the incredible carrot Ginger soup and veal with prosciutto and rustic mashed potatoes for my entree. If you are looking for a personalised dining experience with an incredible historical atmosphere and jaw dropping views, you can't beat the Greystone Inn.
