“If you know, you know… and now I know. I stopped by the Percy Flowers Store while traveling through Eastern North Carolina and grabbed one of their almost famous hot dogs — and let me tell you, “almost” is the most humble understatement in North Carolina history. ??
That hot dog didn’t just meet expectations… it sprinted past them. Perfectly dressed, packed with flavor, and served up with that classic small-town charm you just can’t manufacture. The kind of place where the food is simple, legendary, and somehow tastes like a memory you didn’t know you had.
From the moment you walk in, there’s that nostalgic country-store vibe that makes you want to stay awhile. Friendly faces, quick service, and hot dogs that deserve their own fan club. It’s no surprise this spot has built such a loyal following over the years.
Whether you’re local, just passing through, or hunting down the best hot dogs in Eastern North Carolina — put this place on your list. I’ll definitely be stopping back by for more… and probably sooner than I should. ??

“I'm pretty sure I've left a review already, but I can't get enough of this place. I came through the other day on my way to the Smithfield outlet mall. I had to stop at the truck stop to get some freeze-dried candy. It's so yummy. While you're there, check out the cool souvenirs they have in the gift shop.”
“I have never been to an auction here but they kindly let me look around. Low pressure and were very nice.Would definitely consider coming back for an auction. They had a variety of products. They were unboxing new stock when I was there.Things were laid out pretty neat for a place that constantly moves inventory. Ample parking. It looked like they had plenty of seats for an auction.”

“I go there because they have ethanol free fuel. BUT, like just abiut everything else in downtown Clayton or Flowers area, way overpriced. Fuel is sometimes 30 cents per gallon cheaper if you just drive 8-10 miles. So be it.”
“I'm an absolute junkie for tightly wrapped Carolina dogs that I can eat standing next to my car, and The Grocery Bag is the perfect spot for that. Just an amazing dog and well worth the drive to Clayton.”

“Small gas station with KRISPY KRUNCHY CHICKEN for sale. They had Mystics, Fanta's and sodas in the bottles. It was like stepping into a time machine and reliving my summers in SC visiting my paternal grandmother. You can even sit and dine inside if you don't want to drive and get grease all over your steering wheel.. Prices are very reasonable and quick, fast service.”
“What a fantastic place to get great food!! I got some hot dogs for friends and a link sausage biscuit for my self and a Deluxe chicken sandwich for my wife. She herself was delicious. My biscuit was spot on! Food was hot,fresh and fast!”

“A lot of times you go to these gas stations like Exxon Mobile shell BP and out of state gas is like 349 so high and you can really use the rewards when you try to put your number and it's always some confusion so it's best to just get 10 bucks from here and move on to a Circle K or gas station that you sure has a reasonable price.”

“Stopped here with my parents on Saturday February 8th 2025. Stopped here to get some diesel gas after getting food at nearby Cracker Barrel in Smithfield. Luckily it was easy to find after going out from Cracker Barrel. Pumped gas ourselves, and it was a decent price compared to the other gas stations around. Got our fuel, easy back onto the road, and headed on our way.”

“I want to say this is one of the best Gas station place in the America. My car had a flat tire on Hwy 70 just few feet before this gas station and my phone was discharged. I requested the person at cash counter for phone cable and he happily helped me. He showed me a comfortable place to sit to charge my phone. When I was calling car towing company the owner walked to me and told me what address to tell and he asked me if everything is good. I was amazed by the cleanliness of this place and how beautiful this place was. The staff here was so nice that I was so surprised to see this place . I was tired and uneasy because my car had flat tire but I got to sit here and relax while I wait for my tow truck. Thanks very much guys and I would recommend others to come here and see how a best gas station in area town look like. Good luck to the owner & staff members!!”
“Great home cooked food just like grandma used to make. They make biscuits from scratch. Thursday is Lasagna day and Saturday is Meatloaf day. Tony the owner is very nice. Great place for good food.”

“The bathrooms are well stocked and has a lock that doesn't require asking the employees for a key (which is annoying to have to do), they have all of your basic snacks like chips and wtv, and in general everything is well stocked. Btw they have Dr.pepper, so that's nice.”

“Iron skillet review: Food was good money. Got two bowls of oatmeal and french toast meal. Everything was perfecto! Quality portions hot clean. Waitress was sweet. I think her name was morgan. Checked up on me and made me feel special LOL blush emoji nah but thanks guys! And the cook i think her name is amber, best dj LOL. Music was on the money too. restaurant was clean and cozy. No rats or mice. I was looking out! And paranoid lol. Thanks. Oh i had grits too. The oatmeal was better. But no fr. Everything was perfect. “A co-worked told me this station had good breakfast biscuits and he was correct. They have a good assortment of pre-cooked, but homemade biscuits. I had the cheese and link sausage. The biscuit and meat tasted fresh. This was also a real biscuit, read "not pillsbury".”
