We had to say goodbye, for now, to our beloved Sasha after more than 13 years. She was gentle, loyal, and so incredibly precious to us.
When we brought Sasha in, we truly thought she only needed her arthritis shot. We had no idea something more serious was going on. Thank you for truly seeing her and recognizing that there was a bigger issue beyond what we came in for. Because of your care and honesty, Sasha did not have to suffer through something that would have only gotten worse. As heartbreaking as that conversation was, we are so grateful that you knew our furbaby so well and helped us make the most compassionate decision for her.
The cremation company you work with treated Sasha with such dignity and care. Every detail—from the beautiful urn and paw print to the thoughtful packaging and grief materials—meant so much to us and brought comfort during such a painful time.
Thank you to everyone on your team for the kindness, the compassion, and especially the hugs. They meant more than you know. Thank you for caring for our sweet Sasha with such respect and love. We will never forget it.

230 West Seawell Street, SanfordMy name is Lexi, and my husband Tai and I first came to Tarheel Canine in 2023 because I needed help with my personal dog. I compete in PSA and was struggling with her drive channeling, while Tai was just beginning to learn decoy work. At that point, we were primarily pet dog trainers. We knew very little about the police K9 world. Our original plan was to attend the school for four weeks. By our second week, we knew we wanted more. We wanted to complete the full six-month program. The challenge was that we live in Florida and we run a business that we couldn’t step away from for six straight months. “Jerry Bradshaw worked with us to create a path that made it possible. Instead of staying for six months straight, we came for weeks at a time, went home to run our business and apply what we’d learned, and then came back again. What started as a four-week trip turned into a three-year journey to complete six months of education. And I wouldn’t change how it happened. That process allowed us to learn, apply, refine, and return with better questions. The training was hands-on and thorough. We learned detection, tracking, proper bite work development, decoy skills, and the foundations of police K9 training. We were also fortunate to learn from Instructor Abe, who was instrumental in our growth, and from other instructors including Taylor Jones. Just as important, we were taught how to think as trainers, not just what to do. That changed everything for us. We started as pet trainers. Today, we’ve expanded what we can offer, including bite work and working-dog programs. We have grown our business, expanded into a second location, and had opportunities to assist local law-enforcement departments and provide seminars. None of that would have been possible without the education and experience we gained at Tarheel Canine. Somewhere along the way, it stopped being just a school, it became community. Finishing the program is a point of pride and also a bit sad, because it marks the end of something that has been a major part of our lives. But we don’t really see it as an ending. Tai and I plan to continue returning, offering any help and support we can to the people who have given us so much. Thank you to Jerry and everyone who invested their time, knowledge, and patience in us.

We got a chicken biscuit with home fries and a bacon egg and cheese sandwich (toast) with orange juice. It was very tasty and the wait staff was very friendly. It was very busy and the to go orders are taken at a walk up outside windows. Nice place to just get a good early breakfast if you have time to just relax. Locals come here to just chat over breakfast and coffee. Will come back.
