“This is my favorite USPS in the RTP/Greater Triangle area. The folks who work the front desk are very helpful, patient and SUPER FAST.. so many people come in and have no idea what they are doing but the team is patient and helps them.”

“Let me tell you. I was absolutely surprised at my experience, not because of the reviews, but because it’s the post office- which in some ways maybe worse than hell (haven’t been there…). I walked in, hoping for a self service kiosk. No dice. However, there were priority boxes/envelopes stocked which is not usually the case at other locations. I self addressed my box like it was 1998, questioned my life choices, and got in line. The line was long and only one person was working. I began to sweat, my gut felt queasy. Others on google have complained about the smell. It was definitely there, but maybe it’s bc people are worried about one person handling the desk and are stress sweating!? Enter my girl French, the USPS’s MVP. She handled the line like a boss. That efficient angel sent directly from heaven processed over ten packages in less than 5 mins from at least four customers, while checking out other customers with individual items- ALL WITH A SMILE ON HER FACE. I finally came to the front, I handed her my package with poor scribble for the address. She deciphered the area code and most of the address with ease. She double checked with me to make sure it was correct. French did so without shaming my poor penmanship. Right before me, her customers primary spoke Spanish and she walked them through every prompt about the package they were sending. and gave them time to self translate and make sure they understood everything. French is a national treasure.”

“The post office is accessible through the Duke University store. Enter the store and go down the stairs to the basement. The computer store and post office are one and the same. They were very nice and helpful.”
“KIOSK is great! PLEASE CHECK IT BEFORE you LEAVE for the EVENING and WEEKEND. Several times I have arrived on a Friday afternoon to discover it is out of stickers and then it cannot be used for QR codes all weekend long. If the post office wants us to depend on automation to keep their costs down, the automation needs to be FUNCTIONAL.”
“I failed to read these reviews prior to scheduling my passport appointment, and needless to say I was very nervous for my appointment upon reading the reviews. I scheduled a passport appointment (no photo), and things went amazing. I used a form-filler to complete my passport application online and brought it mostly filled out - I forgot to add my employer company and she just had me write it in with a black pen. Simple. I brought my original birth certificate (she specifically asked for the original), my ID (you do not need a photocopy- they make their own there), and my passport photo from Walgreens. I bought my money order there for a $2.35 fee on top of the charges to the state and it was very smooth. Please do not listen to these reviews. If you come fully prepared, you will be totally fine. She even asked me if I needed my photo taken when I did not select passport appointment with a photo online. I believe the lady that helped me today was named Melissa. Truly had a great experience and it was smooth sailing.”
“The parking lot was full when I arrived; however, there was only a few people waiting in line once I got inside. Some people patiently waited for a spot to open up while others parked illegally and went inside. By the time I left, the line was a lot longer. In summary, go with patience and something to keep you occupied while you wait.”
“I’ve lived in many places across the country, and this USPS post office is truly the best I’ve experienced. The building itself is beautiful, the staff are consistently friendly, and during the holidays they even add festive decorations and music. Despite Cary’s population of around 190,000, I’m often pleasantly surprised by how little wait time there is—sometimes none at all.”
“Good post office. One of the only ones in the area that’s open on Saturday and open until 1:30 PM too! Well-organized and easy to find what you need supply-wise. If there’s a line, it usually moves quickly. All my interactions with the postal workers there have been friendly, polite and helpful.”
“I completed forgot to write my experience with the Durham Post office. I forgot what the woman and gentleman's names were.
I wanted to share a very positive experience I had with the Durham Post Office earlier this year.
In February, I mailed an Etsy gift to my friend’s daughter in another town in North Carolina. Unfortunately, I accidentally used her correct street address but put “Durham, NC” and our zip code instead of her actual city and zip code. I didn’t realize the mistake until I received an Etsy notification that the package was out for delivery in Durham.
Since the street didn’t exist in Durham, I knew there would be a problem. I first called the USPS 800 number, and they directed me to contact the local post office. I was pleasantly surprised that someone actually answered the phone at the Durham Post Office, and the woman I spoke with was extremely kind and helpful. She looked for the package, found it, and even set it aside for pickup.
I had mailed two packages, and only one had been recovered at first. A few days later, on Saturday, I received another delivery notification. I called again and eventually reached a gentleman at the post office. Although he couldn’t locate the second package right away, he took down my information and personally called me back later that afternoon with an update. He asked me to call again on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday.
When I called Tuesday, I spoke with the same helpful woman, and she was able to locate the second package as well. My husband picked it up the following day.
I know people are quick to post complaints, but I wanted to recognize the excellent customer service I received from the Durham Post Office employees who helped me. Both employees were friendly, patient, and genuinely willing to help solve the problem. Their kindness and effort were truly appreciated.”
“Tinani is probably the most delightful and efficient postal worker I've ever met. She patiently and thoroughly explained everything I needed to do with a big smile, and got me out of there in no time. The line gets long here but moves quickly.”
