“The best Chinese Super League restaurant in the past 3 years. The boss often provides everyone with some delicious and affordable seafood group purchases, especially the annual bluefin tuna, which cannot be bought elsewhere. The employees are very enthusiastic and nice, especially Miss An An, who always smiles and recommends what ingredients are the most affordable today every time she comes in.”

“I come here specifically for staples like eggs, apples, carrots, beets, and bread. The staff are friendly and helpful and I would much rather support a smaller company than Sobeys or Superstore.”

“A great family run place with such a wide variety! the store is filled with an incredible selection of died noodles, rice, frozen & refrigerated products, sauces, dry ingredients, and so much more. I spent a lot of time just looking at the shelves of rice noodles because of how many different options there are.The folks (i assume the owners) who work there are very kind.”

“Delightful Asian food and Chinese equipment supplies. Nice fruit and vegetables. Highly recommended. You’ll still have to go to one or two other Asian markets in Halifax to get Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese and Korean supplies.”

“The Grainery is a small non for profit food co-op. It operates solely on volunteers and carries many staples like oats, flour, rice, lentils, chickpeas, etc. They also carry things like dried fruit, nuts, eggs, tofu, and peanut butter. Most of their products are organic.Similar to the tare shop, you can bring your own container (or take one of the many free used containers that have been donated) to store whatever you’re buying to reduce packaging waste. They only take cash, e transfer, or debit.I volunteered for the Grainery (and did lots of shopping as well) and had a lovely experience. Everyone I volunteered with was so friendly and there’s a nice sense of community. I highly recommend trying out the fancy granola and the dried mangoes - these were my favourite snacks and both were very reasonably priced!”

“The locally made (Scotsburn) ice-creams here are a must-have if you're visiting. I recommend the chocolate peanut butter one that made all attempts at being a resilient adult seem like a distant dream.Decently priced and right next to the scenic Point Pleasant Park, so going for a walk with it was very satisfying.”

“We love this store, they always respect their schedule, coincidentally the store is always open when we have needed to buy, it is worth walking 3 blocks to them. This store has been our lifesaver when we ran out of food at home because the store always has eggs and milk. Thank you for your great customer service”

“Small store with limited items. Needs some organization and perhaps spruced up stock. The owner stands behind her claim of hand slaughtered chicken she sells, which she said she gets from Montreal, hence the 4 stars.”

“Not sure what company runs the flower/ horticulture shops for Sobeys in Halifax, but they truly do an AMAZING job!! I am particularly impressed by the delightful array of flowers and plants always presented at the Queen St. Sobeys: they are always so well taken care of, and such a wonderful and ever-changing variety of species and varieties!! Most impressive indeed.”

“The investigation is over! All the people crying for this store to be closed are purely, systematically racists and filled with resentment towards a successful business in the community. Here are the results:The SPCA have verified that the store owner does not have access to the basement where alleged animal abuse has occurred according to his rental agreement, a judge have ruled the owner to be innocent and the newspaper that have published an article about the alleged abuse have officially apologized for fake news. Please stop harassing successful business people and get a life.”

“As a single male, M&M Meat Shops is my favourite food store. With a wide selection of really easy to prepare foods, even a culinary-challenged guy like me can create (unthaw?) a great meal :). The Lacewood Drive location is always clean and well stocked, with a knowledgeable and friendly staff.”

“This little but very friendly corner store has been around like, FOREVER!!! They certainly must be doing something right.. which they are. You don't survive as a business of ANY kind in Spryfield for that long, without being a First Class Establishment.”
