“So our trip started off horrible. For whatever reason our bank decided to not let any transaction above the daily atm limit go thru. It wouldn't be resolved until the following morning. After being on the phone with the bank for an hour after arriving at the hotel and getting nowhere, we now had to explain this to the hotel. I explained and asked if we could pay for the night and settle the remaining the next day. The hotel could have told us to kick rocks since they put a hold for the full amount. Instead he handed us our key cards, said go get settled in, and have a great evening and we could settle in the morning. This didn't have to be done and we could have had to find another hotel for a night. I can't tell you how much we appreciated this. The next morning after a lengthy apology from a customer service manager and a bank manager, we paid in full and we were so thankful for the consideration given to us. Yeah we know they had our car in the valet, but they didn't even have to let us check in and they certainly were gracious and went above and beyond. we even had to extend our trip by 4 days and they were able to squeeze us in and managed to keep us in the same room.I wish I wrote everyone's name down and I feel bad bc I had the honor to have multiple conversations with various staff during our stay. But I only remember Andrew by name, but he and the rest of the staff MADE my trip. Exceptional service is just another day of the week to these people and they're the ones who made this trip and make us want to come back to the Lytle. So to the staff of the Lytle, from the front desk, to the bar/restauraunt, the ones who cleaned the room, the bellhops, the valets and everyone in between. Thank you.Rooms: Our room was really really really good. Spacious, well decorated and clean. We had a suite with a soaking tub and I used that thing every damn day. Highly recommend coming with bath salts or a bath bomb.Nearby activities: There's alot more to Cincinatti that I thought. As I've only ever driven thru, there's so many great places to eat and visit. We''ll be back to do just that.Food & drinks: The restaurant upstairs and the one downstairs are gorgeous. Upstairs is the view, you can see a large portion of the riverfront and across to the Kentucky side. It's gorgeous at night! The weather was cold most of the time we were there so we couldn't sit outside, but inside is no less nice.We spent some time downstairs at the bar, the staff is top notch. I highly recommend trying the the Vanilla Pear Mule for something different and the gelato for the dessert. Probably the best salted caramel gelato I've ever had.”

“This hotel is our secret hideaway! Every room is unique and laid out differently. There is a fireplace in every room. We have stayed here many, many times and it is always excellent. It is clean and unbelievably quiet. We love eating in the restaurant downstairs (The National Exemplar) and relaxing in the bar (Sotheby's). There are several other restaurants in walking distance, as well as a movie theater. It is also near Oakley which has many more restaurants, shops, and entertainment. It's a great place to spend a quiet weekend.”

“It is a nice hotel overall and the attached restaurant (Metropole) is fabulous for breakfast. We had the corner room (a nice complimentary upgrade) which was said to be the nicest in the hotel. Three items did not function as they should - safe, bedside lamp, in-house phone. However someone came quickly to fix the safe. We did not mention the lamp and the front desk was notified of the phone issue. We needed the phone to call for the valet 20 minutes prior to needing our car. Instead my husband needed to go down to the lobby and request the car. The room could use a pick me up - looked a little worn but nothing too extreme. The room was very spacious for the three of us. We did not use either but it was nice that two tvs were included. The bathroom was nice - double sinks, artistic tiles, shower and tub, and fabulous smelling luxury hand soap! The king bed was comfortable. For a room this size and price I felt that it should have included a microwave but maybe that is just me. The location was what seemed like a great location if we wanted to walk around the area however our schedule did not allow it. The art museum within the hotel is very cool and was a great way to spend a little extra time that we had. Complimentary bourbon tastings in the evening were a nice touch but unfortunately we did not get to take part. Overall it was a nice stay!”

“What a great hidden gem! We stayed at this hotel for a getaway in Cincinnati. Each room is unique. The location is awesome if you're exploring OTR. The innkeeper was responsive via text message. Check in and out were flawless. There's a cute little rooftop patio for hanging out on.Guests should be aware that the stairs are narrow and a bit steep; no elevator. Its an older property and that comes with the territory. It might be convenient for them to have a baggage room, but I suspect if you asked the inn keeper they could work something out, and the mozart garage isn't far. The innkeeper worked with us to let us get the car parked a few hours early so we could spend more time exploring OTR.When we stayed the place was nearly empty. The restaurant and lounge look really nice for a weekend but on weeknights it was dead. It was fine, we were looking for a quiet relaxing place to go, but just be advised that there's nothing on site unless you coord it with the innkeeper most weeknights. That was fine -- all of OTR is an easy walk or streetcar ride away and we wanted to explore.Overall, what a cute little hotel! We're glad we stayed here instead of opting for a better known brand name option in the downtown district.Rooms: We had the Copland room. Well appointed, comfortable bed, cute antique furniture. The shower was clean and modern. Each room is unique -- we'd be interested to try a few others.Safety: I wasn't sure about the area as parts of OTR are a bit sketchy. The hotel itself was fine. There is a police substation right down the street, between the hotel and its associated Mozart garage. Most times when we were walking to or from the hotel there was a patrol car idling less than 200 yards away. Washington park is well lit and also patrolled and right next door. Access to the hotel is controlled via a pin code door lock.Walkability: The garage is a short walk away. All of OTR is an easy stroll. The free streetcar stop is about a hundred yards from the hotel at Washington Park, and you can hop on and go up to Findley Market or down to the bank.In the evening we were able to easily wander to a few bars and restaurants around the park, walk to our theater for a show, then head back to the hotel and nothing was more than an easy 10 minute stroll. Perfect location for exploring OTR.”

“So I am finally getting to write my review for this wonderful hotel. Truly, the gentleman at the front desk could not have been any more kind and pleasant. His smile was welcoming, and even when we left, he helped us get our stuff in our vehicle in the pouring rain. I only wish I’d asked his name. We stayed in a King Suite wherein there are actually 2 separate rooms along with a small kitchenette. I love having the 2 separate paces so I don’t wake my boys when I wake up early. The shower got hot fast and had perfect pressure. While certainly not the newest hotel on the block, it was very clean, very well-kept, and a hotel I’d be glad to stay at anytime. In fact, I’m likely to stop there again on my way home! The location is great and plenty close to any type of business someone could need. I personally would recommend this place without hesitation.”

“Overall a wonderful experience. We had a free night to use up so I won't be to critical but the room was very odd. Room 1420 in particular was very tiny and laid out in peculiar fashion unlike any other room I'd stayed at a Hyatt or other hotel for that matter, luckily we weren't there to be in our room long so other than that the staff and facilities were nice and our trip was good. Just don't get that room!”

“I am too late to post this review but its never too late for the excellent comments. we were around 70 people were here in this hotel in September 2023 and CIERRA BICKEL and her staff made our stay as good as possible. It was my son's wedding and we were coming out of town and was too scared how things will workout there. But because of CIERRA BICKEL it was as smooth as it can be . Every time i called her and explain her my concern she always said don't worry i am here and i will take care of everything and she did it. Not to mention she was 8 months pregnant. all our guests loved her and her staff. I have so much to say all good things about them. I felt it home there. i would love to stay there with an blink of my eye. All in all we all were 200% satisfied with their services and hospitality.”

“We arrived at 6:00 PM in heavy traffic and rain and it was dark. They did not have a lit sign that was working, it was difficult to know which one was the Hampton Inn without our GPS. Other than that and a scarce breakfast menu, it was a wonderful stay.”

“DUE TO WORK, EXCEPT FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, I HAVE BEEN STAYING AT THIS PLACE EVERY WEEK FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS. I WOULD HAVE EITHER BOUGHT A HOME OR RENTED AN APARTMENT IF THIS PLACE AND IT'S STAFF DOESN'T GO ABOVE AND BEYOND TO MAKE ALL THEIR CUSTOMER'S STAY COMFORTABLE AND WELCOME. ALL THE ROOMS THAT I HAVE STAYED IN WERE COMFORTABLE AND CLEAN. AND IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, ALL OF THE STAFF IS EXTREMELY CARING AND HELPFUL. I CAN CONFIDENTLY SAY THAT NO ONE HAS STAYED AT THIS PLACE MORE OFTEN THAN I HAVE, AND AFTER MORE THAN 2 YEARS, I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH NICE THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE AND IT'S PEOPLE. IF YOU ARE IN THE AREA AND NEED A PLACE TO STAY, I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.”

“Wow, we came as a family to celebrate a birthday with the cooking class and dinner. We had an amazing evening of cooking, dancing, and eating. The staff was delightful and the location for cooking and dining was top notch. Highly recommend!”

“I was placed next to a loud couple bumping the wall and talking loudly by my door. I complained to the front desk and they kindly changed my room. I got the chance to see 2 rooms during my stay. The rooms were clean for the most part. No roaches, no bed bugs or any bugs for that matter. A few burn holes in the bed topper and average furniture. Bed was comfy. Staff was friendly. Coffee served all day and night. Only bad thing is the road noise from the highway and no microwave or fridge. I would stay again but it won't be my first choice.”

“Everything was just great! There was a mixup with the travel agency and the hotel staff was super-nice and accomodating to help us get it straightened out. they had to call the manager/supervisor who was off-site who was also super-nice. They put us in a room even before the details were settled but they helped us calmly get everything straightened out and really went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. Aside from that the room was as expected and we used the breakfast provided which was really nice. There were no suprises... everything was just really nice and the staff was super! We were very happy.”

“You cannot get into this building unless you are accompanied by someone with a Childrens Badge and employees are quite firm on this rule to the point of sometimea seeming distrustful. Once inside however, people are friendly enough and there is a small cafeteria where you can get a quick bite to eat or coffee, drinks, etc.”

“After reading some of these reviews I was a little nervous about staying here, but I had a great experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, the room was clean, and breakfast was tasty. It's an older hotel so don't expect the Ritz but it was perfect for an easy one night stay. Thanks!!”

“My rental car was one of multiple cars broken into back in April. I emailed the GM and the only response was "you park at your own risk" with absolutely no offer to remedy anything. I was not looking for them to cover the cost, but some sort of gesture would have been nice considering the GM admitted there was a gap in security surveillance in the parking lot where the incident occurred.”

“Service and employees were great and very accommodating. Switched rooms because AC did not work, super easy to handle though no problems when telling them about the situation. Valet is rip off, public parking is across the street. No carts to load / unload luggage. Free breakfast is meh.”

“My experience at this hotel was great. I want to especially thank Selma from the house keeping department. I left something in my room and when I realized what I had left I called the hotel lost and found and spoke to Selma. The same day I called about the item I had left in the room she went personally to the room to find it and thank God it was there. Selma kept the item safe for me until she was able to ship it to me personally. I’m so grateful to her. This hotel has amazing staff!”

“I felt like everything here was slightly above average for my normal hotel experience. The pillows were better than average, and the breakfast had fresh scrambled eggs and sausage and waffles. The pool was in service although we didn't swim this time. We did hear a couple trains. Our room was clean. We enjoyed our stay!”

“I will say, the workers there were ALL fantastic. They were very friendly and helpful, and they put in the extra effort to make you feel welcome. This is where the "Comfort" in their name begins and ends.Multiple cracks had been painted over in our room, the bathroom needs updated, and the breakfast sausage tastes like plastic. Probably the worst quality hotel I have stayed at for the price we paid. Would not be nearly as critical if a night's stay was $50, but we paid a little over $100. If they are going to charge this much, they should put that money back into the hotel to make it worth the stay. The room and furniture/beds were quite clean, but the room itself is in serious need of renovation.”

“Bed literally sinks in the middle and the mattress has bumps in it. Extremely uncomfortable. I can hear everything from the unit above me. The end of hallway doors slam shut every time some opens them. The shower was either extremely hot or extremely cold, no in between. “Breakfast” was just some old looking Jimmy Dean sandwiches. I don’t eat eggs so I had to get food elsewhere before work. Price point was great but I guess you get what you pay for. Do your research before hand!”

“I needed a cheap place to stay the night before an event downtown. The hotel is old and definitely shows its age in some areas, but the room had updated decor. The room got all the important things right, like clean sheets, comfortable bed, no odors, clean bathtub, and easy parking in front of the room. But I will say, a lot of the minor details weren’t great: the door and a few walls were pretty scuffed and could use repainting, there was some dirt in the corners of the room that could have easily been cleaned, the furniture was scuffed/scratched, there was a hole in the wall below the desk, and a lot of the floor planks are scratched. But like I said, these are the minor things. I would absolutely stay here again and I recommend it if you just need a cheap, clean, and safe place to crash for a night or two and you don’t mind some minor imperfections.”

“I have been here a few times over the years and I can see they are also doing a lot of repairs. This place has been standing since I was a young child and it needed to be repaired some and they have done a great job. The staff is friendly and helpful and there's coffee prepared each morning. I am allergic to pets so that would be about the only thing I could say on the flip side. They have a nice laundry room that only cost 3.00 a load that's wash and dry and they sell soap in the office. They also have a little vending machine for when ya just need a snack or for those diabetics who need something right away. The housekeepers are friendly and always smiling. Great job and I love that they go out of their way to help others!!!”

“When you normally stay at a budget hotel you have to know it's not gonna be perfect. This place takes what they have to work with. It's clean. No bugs. No roaches. Bed is comfortable. Shower is hot. And the people here are super nice. Sure. Are there things that need fixed appearance wise.....yes but its not a brand new hotel. I will definitely stay here again.”
