“If there is more than 5 stars in rates and reviews, I would definitely give it to this place. The owner is an honest lovely young man and his prices are logical. I recommend him especially for his Iraqi Kabab and Iraqi Basterma.”

“Since moving to Hagersville a few months ago we've shopped here quite a few times. Always been able to find what we need and the prices are pretty good. Never any issues with shopping here.”

“I've been shopping here for years, a consistently quality grocer, always a pleasant experience. A store that is always busy but never crowded. Spacious, clean and organized. Great sourcing of local products. Well managed with good employees. Large selection of items at comparable prices. Nice little selection of unique plants and flowers. Fantastic fruits and vegetables. Top notch bakery, the best breads. ? Meat selection and cuts have consistently been of really good quality and taste. Decent hot counter foods, nice soups, good sandwiches. I don't eat sushi but there's always a variety and it looks pretty tasty. Overall, the best grocery store I've been to, seriously. It's a store that cares and that matters.”

“Wish this location was bigger. Service was great. Cashier was friendly and knowledgeable. Food portions seem to have gotten alot smaller and prices up. Quality is still good.”

“We were in town staying the night and thought we’d walk over before it closed at 9pm. We arrived at around 8:20pm.

There were maybe a few other people shopping at the same time. It was very quiet.

The store was very clean and well stocked. The bakery and deli department was closed and had been cleaned for the night. There were still lots of sweet treats on the shelves for us to choose from.

There were two ladies at the front waiting to help at the register. We were in and out efficiently!”

“Amazing fresh food, huge variety, and the best paneer in the area
Swadesh has quickly become one of my favourite Indian grocery stores, mainly because of the variety they offer. Their freshly prepared food is genuinely delicious — it feels like proper homemade Indian snacks and meals, and it’s something I always look forward to picking up.
Prices here are definitely on the higher side compared to other Indian grocery stores nearby, but the variety makes up for it. They stock way more options than most stores in the area, and it’s rare for me to not find what I’m looking for.
Their paneer is hands down the best I’ve ever bought from a grocery store — super fresh, soft, and high quality — though a bit pricey. The sweet section is also very good, with lots of options that taste fresh and authentic.
Another thing I love is how easy it is to shop for pooja essentials here. For festivals like Diwali, Holi, or Raksha Bandhan, Swadesh becomes a one-stop shop with all the traditional items you might need.
Overall, if you’re looking for variety, great fresh food, and top-quality products, Swadesh is absolutely worth visiting — even if the prices are slightly higher.”

“I like shopping here they have a lot of stuff, but the staff does not greet people. I have been here multiple times and they never greet you. It's weird, they will help you when you ask for help but it's not a warm welcome. That's just my experience. Besides that every thing else is great. That's why I gave them a 4/5 stars. I love supporting black businesses but customer services needs to be better.”

“Nice, clean and great prices Friendly, helpful staff.Love you can buy fresh meat at back of store. And they have an express lane for people with fewer items to purchase. Not like Food Basics on Rymal and Upper Wentworth, NO EXPRESS CASH OUT.”

“It is a supermarket that is complete and has a great variety of products. and located in a location that is conveniently accessible. Fresh, clean, high-quality ingredients, prepared fresh every day. Highly recommended.”

“Went to the store to grab some things, not expecting much. But the cashier (Jordan, I think her name was) made it a genuinely pleasant experience. I wouldn't really write a review for a grocery store, but she was phenomenal. Honestly, the store could use more cashiers actually working (it's clear they're penny-pinching a bit).

Jordan was a delight; she was super friendly and quick. Not only was she super kind to me but also very enthusiastic to my little boy. She is definitely a standout, and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves. Will be returning.”
