“Usually, this is one of my favourite stores. However, during a recent visit when I was trying to exchange a defective product, I had a very disappointing customer service experience. One staff member was kind and helpful, but the newer employee assisting me and their supervisor were dismissive and rude. I felt that my concerns were questioned, and comments like “All of them?” were said aloud with an attitude while I was testing the product. The overall environment felt stressful rather than supportive. I also wasn’t offered clear alternatives unless I specifically asked. In a situation like this, customers shouldn’t have to prompt staff for options such as store credit, a refund, or testing a replacement. A simple “Would you prefer this option or that one?” would have made a big difference. I want to emphasize that this is still a beautiful Chapters location with a nice atmosphere, and this experience does not reflect the store as a whole. However, as a long-time customer who has always admired the brand and its environment, this interaction significantly impacted my perception. I truly believe rewarding experienced staff and reinforcing customer service expectations with newer employees would go a long way. This was a one-time experience, but it was enough to leave a lasting impression.”
