Grateful Bread Bakery & Restaurant
34805 Brooten Rd, CloverdaleOn the recommendation of a friend, we stopped by Grateful Bakery & Restaurant for a late breakfast during a recent trip to Pacific City. We were determined to fit it into our itinerary before leaving town, especially since they’re closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
When we arrived, there was already a line out the door. We added our name to the waitlist and were quoted a 20–30 minute wait, so we wandered over to the charming Vintage Vibes Flowers & Gifts boutique around the corner. By the time we returned, we only waited another 5–10 minutes before our name was called.
The young man who seated us apologized for the wait and brought us to the bright, inviting sunroom. Our server, Brandon, greeted us right away with a warm smile, explained the menu, and made us feel welcome from the start.
The menu had so many tempting options that it took us a while to decide! I chose the Marionberry French Toast, made with thick-cut challah bread and topped with a house-made marionberry-apple compote. If you’ve never had marionberries, think of them as a wonderfully tart Pacific Northwest blackberry. The portion was incredibly generous, but it was so delicious I happily finished every bite. It wasn’t overly sweet or heavy, and the marionberry compote was a refreshing twist on traditional French toast.
My partner ordered the Grateful Grilled Cheese with ham, featuring cheddar and Swiss cheeses, crisp apples, caramelized onions, and house-made bread. The addition of fresh apples was an unexpected touch that worked beautifully—I may have to steal that idea for my own grilled cheese at home!
The restaurant has a warm, cozy atmosphere that feels more like dining in someone’s home than in a busy restaurant. Even with a full dining room, Brandon checked on us several times, offered excellent service, and took a moment to chat with us about where we were visiting from. Those little personal touches always make a meal more memorable.
As we were leaving, we noticed the bakery case, where they sell fresh pastries and breads to go. Unfortunately, by late morning the selection was almost gone. I had been hoping to bring home a few scones, but I guess that’s just another reason to come back—and next time, we’ll definitely arrive earlier!
If you’re visiting Pacific City, Grateful Bakery & Restaurant is absolutely worth the wait. Between the welcoming atmosphere, friendly service, creative menu, and delicious food, it’s a place I’d happily recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Meridian Restaurant & Bar
33000 Cape Kiwanda Dr, CloverdaleThe food was great. Our waiter was too, but he was a bit overwhelmed. They had several large parties and could have used more wait staff.
