“Selco is such a welcome change after dealing with pretty much every other bank. The people there are the friendliest and go out of the way to try to help. The bank itself offers tons of member services and actually feels like they have your best interest (heh interest). Their notary service is such a huge relief as that can be a sporadic but big headache when needed otherwise. Can't recommend enough especially the folks at the w 11th branch.”

“EXCELLENT!!! Never again will I use a bank (OCCU is NOT A BANK - it’s a CREDIT UNION, folks!). This is the longest (20 yrs) I’ve had an account at the same financial institution. I’d postponed getting an acct initially because I didn’t have much to deposit & retain, didn’t want fees, like the banks would require. Well! the basic account was FREE and no minimum balance! Wish I’d known it was different than the banks, I would’ve been a member much sooner.
OCCU has THE BEST customer service EVER. Tellers are always friendly, efficient and waaay beyond accommodating when there’s some sort of snag (NOT caused by them, mind you!). i.e. I once had a super nasty property mgr who liked to jerk tenants’ chains. He told me my ck got stolen thru the drop slot (I found out from the EPD he was lying). He was gleefully knowing I’d have to cancel my ck (a $25 fee) & write another. I explained the situation to OCCU & they immediately understood & unhesitatingly cancelled the ck, NO charge. That wouldn’t have happened at any bank, I can guarantee you! In the 20 yrs with them, they’ve swiftly taken care of any glitches that could’ve otherwise been a headache elsewhere.
Whenever someone has 1st moved to the area, I strongly encourage them to join OCCU, share my great Expy with them. Same with friends if I find they aren’t a member. I know OCCU has at least 5 members from my raving about them. I’ve NEVER recommended another financial institution to anyone before, only OCCU!
Glad to see more branches have opened over the years. Hope more towns in Oregon eventually get OCCU. The only thing I wish they could somehow have is a drive-up at their Santa Clara branch. Replacing the branch on Barger sure would be terrific, too! (Why’d that one close?)
Once used the live ATM teller after a staff person recommended it. That employee wanted to make sure I wouldn’t be intimidated so she accompanied me without me having to ask. Was much easier & rather seamless to use than I’d anticipated. Pretty neat feature! Try it sometime!
P.S. re: the neg comments about car loans. I’m suspect that there was some misunderstanding somewhere - OCCU has ALWAYS been accommodating, IMO. Sounds to me like a possible a hitch on the dealerships’ end.”
“I was on the phone for a good hour simply trying to recieve financial guidance, which online OCCU claims to offer as well as any other standard bank. After being transferred to many departments on the phone I saw that the new location close to me, on Royal ave was open even on a SATURDAY! Heather Metcalf despite usually being appointment only not only made time for me but was enthusiastic about seeing me and answered EVERY question I had! She was confident, fun, understanding, professional and busting at the seams with information and wisdom I wouldn't have found elsewhere! I HIGHLY recommend this location simply for the reason she is there and will help anyone with any questions feel at home and cared for in terms of their financial future. Thank you so much Heather!!”
