But, despite who helps me, it doesn’t seem to matter how trashy my questions about trashy transactions are, they always treat me with respect and take me seriously. I’m someone who would rather get an answer from a person than an automated system while I’m worried about financial issues, so I’m grateful that I can stop by this branch and get help. What does it say about the world when the people at the bank are so much kinder than the people who sell you weed? Maybe it’s always been that way. Who knows? My only hesitance about leaving this review is that it might encourage more people to use this branch, and I’d have to start standing in line.”

“I've got to tell y'all about a great experience I recently had at Onoint Community on Lombard! As a freelance writer, I'm often solicited for work from various industries on various platforms. I was invited to apply for a position and was eventually 'hired' after I completed a very lengthy assessment. They had amazing GlassDoor Reviews, dozens of YouTube videos, and extensive social media accounts (including LinkedIn), so they were legit to me. Until they wanted to send me a check to purchase equipment. Yep. That's where it started to go south, but I still wasn't completely SURE. That's where my banker came in. I took the check to OnPoint Community Credit Union on N. Lombard and told the tellers I needed to talk to a banker privately (because I was feeling pretty embarrassed already- but I ALSO really needed confirmation). I spent a good hour with 'Jackie' (Deveraux?) in his office examining the check, doing further online research, and escalating the issue to the fraud department. When I left, neither one of us was completely convinced the company was a fraud since the check was issued from a real bank, but the fraud department was investigating. The next day, however, Jackie phoned me to tell me that I was almost involved in a disastrous scam that would have left me on the hook for almost 6K! The fraud department sees these scams all the time. Here's what I came to say: Scammers are savvy. Be proactive and protect yourself. Don't be afraid to meet your bankers, they are there to inform you and protect your money. Jackie's customer service was impeccable! I came in confused and skeptical but left feeling confident and 'saved' by Jackie from a situation that could have destroyed me financially. Bravo!”
