“As a thirty year old man who has no experience with jewelry, I was in need of some guidance for an engagement ring I wanted to buy. A close family friend had recommended John Anthony. I stopped in one day and told the father and son duo what I was thinking. They couldn’t have been more helpful. Not only did they help me through the process, the educated me and explained the entirety of the ring, the diamond, the process of how it’s made. I was in there for hours talking with them both and it felt like five minutes. I had some stones from my then fiancés late father that John happily agreed to put into this ring. I put the order in and within a few weeks, I had the exact ring I was looking for and it looked amazing.I went back for the wedding band and it was the same experience. At this point I had only met these guys a couple times, but I felt like I knew them for years. This is why it’s important to go to “mom and pop” shops, to support local businesses. I would not have gotten the experience and comfort I did if I had bought a ring at a chain or online. Engagement rings are expensive, so you want to make sure you are making the right decision. And with John Anthony, I know I did.Along with the jewelry, they provided me the appraisals and all documents for record keeping and insurance.I will be coming back to these two again in the future.”

I was recommended to them by a family member and they now will have a return costumer in me.I went into here with a rough idea of a design for a custom engagement ring I was looking for. They immediately sat down with me as I described what I wanted. They took notes and showed me different examples of rings and stones so I could get a sense of what it may look like when finished. We settled on a design and I soon had a CAD model that we fine-tuned using wax models. Shortly after, I had the ring in my hand and I was speechless. It was exactly what I had pictured in my head.They communicated with me great throughout the process, were super friendly, and offered their own professional insight into what designs that went along with what I had in mind. The proposal went off without a hitch and my partner absolutely loves the ring. He was much more informative than any source you would scour on your own. He brought several diamonds out from the vault, and let us inspect them with him using his jewelers lens, and also let us look at them on my finger in the sunlight. My ring was created by Colton perfectly to be unique and exactly what I wanted, and every time Barskys cleans and polishes it (at no charge), it looks as new as it did the day we were engaged. I wanted a delicate signet style ring to hold the footprint of my heart dog, who passed away, so that he can walk me down the aisle, and wherever I go in life. I also wanted to be able to stack rings with footprints or nose prints of our other dogs over time. I’d searched for ideas for a long time, and we sat with Colton and he asked for stories about Mozart, for pictures, he was genuinely empathetic, kind, and compassionate. He guided me through choosing what style band would look best for this project, and accommodated every desire I had for such a delicate piece. When he sent his initial renderings, his conceptualization of what this piece could be far exceeded what I had imagined for so long. He’s given me back a small piece of my heart, and there is something particularly special to us to know that Barskys has been part of so many of our important life events, and more so, that we can trust them with these critically important events.Ron and Colton will forever have our business, and we will never use another jeweler other than Barskys. “TLDR: I would highly recommend John!! I was a very particular customer who went to John with a lot of different ideas for a very unique custom art deco style engagement ring. He really listened, and talked through all of them with me!! I went to jewelers in the Italian Market, Center City and all along Jewelers Row and John was easily the best and at the best price!!!He shared his ideas based off of the criteria that I had wanted. I then decided to go with something completely different which he was very gracious about. John then gave me a couple of different ideas for design based off of this ring that I had seen online, I then asked for something that was a slightly different modification that I knew was going to be difficult based off dimensions of what I wanted, etc. We both knew this design would probably not work/most like there would be problems because the very specific and unique modification that I had asked for, but he still went ahead and tried to make it work anyway. When it inevitably couldn’t be done, he made suggestions for modifications that I hadn’t even considered that still maintained all of the unique features that I wanted in the ring. He did all of this, AND was honest and transparent in his pricing. After his already great price, he had still managed to come in under price without sacrificing ANY quality. He could have easily found ways to upcharge AND make the ring more similar to basic/easy to do designs that I had seen everywhere online (which all of his competitors tried to do), but he didn’t. The one thing I had messed up was I had told him the wrong size for the ring, it was just slightly too big which is obviously not John’s fault…John of course had told me to come back with any problems that I might have for the ring, and I was going to except my fiancé refuses to take off the ring because she loves it so much. John truly cares about creating a customer first business and it really shows in every aspect. This review would be nothing if I also didn’t shout out his trusted assistant Moses who is the absolute best and a complete professional.”

“This is one of Philadelphia's best kept secret for unique, avant-garde luxury clothing. This shop needs to open in NYC or Tokyo. My mom and I arrived and a stylist greeted us at the door and offered drinks. Lots of black and white clothing, everything had design details that was unique, special and beautiful. My favorites were the hand painted dresses, oversized white shirt with patchwork details, a silk skirt that had holograms on it, a convertible jacket that changed depending on the straps I pulled on, and a beautiful leather bag. The SERVICE was 100%! When I tried a dress that needed an adjustment in the bust, one of the designers (WHAT!!!!) came down from their studio to help me and they adjusted it and delivered it to me in 2 days! As a size 10-12, I find shopping for high design clothing hard since most of the luxury brands don't offer items in my size. But here, I found great items that made me feel confident and beautiful.
