“You never end up at a phone store because you're having the best day ever. I mean, I suppose sometimes people are excited to go to the phone store to buy the newest tech they have been following.

But on a record-scorcher of a day, I experienced a series of unfortunate events that led me to leave my phone in the trunk of a rideshare while being dropped off at an airport. I did not arrive early, but rather on time with a few minutes to spare. I did what I could, emailing using my colleague's app to notify the driver. I hoped that after the flight landed, there would be a message that my phone was found. Nothing...

Everything was on my phone. My schedule, social media, banking, emails, medical records, pictures, and so much more. There was so much, and being without a phone at this moment wouldn't work. I only had my spouse's number memorized... not my kids, not my friends, while I can remember my parents' landline, I don't remember either of their cells, and no work numbers. Thankfully, I knew I had everything backed up and could access it again (if you don't have your phone backed up, please consider doing so and memorize your password for the account you're backing up to).

I stopped by the Verizon store and was greeted by two professionals. I quickly explained that I needed to buy a phone, and I wanted a Samsung. Brad immediately brought over the models they had. I picked the phone closest to the one I left in another state, and we began the purchasing process. We ended up having to call one of my kids to verify I was a real person associated with the account. This involved my kid briefly talking with me, then me passing the old school landline to Brad to explain the next steps to verify me. My kiddo came through and clicked the necessary link.

Brad also explained the warranties for the cases and screen protectors and said he could set it up for me. I called my spouse to see (because, in reality, I don't do these things). While I was talking with my partner, Brad reminded me to mention the warranty, which was the selling point for getting my phone case and screen protector in the store. Brad put my OtterBox and screen protector on before I left.

While I was stressed and overwhelmed, Brad was calm, professional, and incredibly helpful. He even offered to help me sync with my Google account, but I knew how to do that.

By the time I was leaving, Brad was going to assist an elderly gentleman with learning to use his phone. Brad's customer service skills were impeccable, but his humility, compassion, knowledge, and ability to follow policy and protocol were impressive. I think the Verizon store hit the nail on the head when they brought Brad on to the team. I'll be back to buy my next phone there, but hopefully it isn't on the hottest day of the year, following a chain of unfortunate events.
