“Love love love small bookshops, get certificates for holiday gifts, they have sooo many nice things and they're the backbone of a community, a center to meet and to discover and to have kids book readings, continuing the love of reading and discovering new magical stories. Absolutely amazing to meet what I assume is the owner, who shared his incredible knowledge and quite interesting, if horrifying, details of William Burroughs biography. This is to me, the most crucial difference between a corporate chain, where the clerks might be nice and courteous, and a community based shop that knows its patronage, able to share insights with its customers, connecting people to stories and ultimately, creating new stories. What the gentlemen shared with me is sensational and haunting, it was about Burroughs shooting his wife at a party, trying to perform a trick by shooting the apple she placed on her head. He missed the apple. It haunted him and now, me, what a graphic image, what a horrendous and tragic way to part with life. And what a wonderful experience and a great book i purchased, in fact the selection here while small and eclectic, is quite impeccable. I purchased Zadie Smith's new book "the Fraud" and so glad i did, I really want that book in my library. Can't wait to come back to this shop.”
