2544 MacArthur Rd, Whitehall TownshipWe took my mother to lunch at Yummy bowl for her birthday, our server Hanaa was so wonderful she explained how everything worked and was so sweet. Our food was so delicious and you get a lot of food. Service was quick and Hanaa was so personable. At the end of our lunch she surprised us with bringing out a plate of fried ice cream and singing happy birthday to my mom. We never even asked for that to happen it was such a nice surprise. We really enjoyed yummy bowl and Hanaa made it even better.

Just Chill Creamery (Whitehall)
5503 MacArthur Rd, Whitehall TownshipListen… I was on a noble quest for King Kone, the so-called “ice cream royalty.” But when I pulled up and saw the line wrapping around the block like it was the Taylor Swift Eras Tour, I said: nah fam. Ain’t no scoop on planet Earth worth aging a whole presidential term in line. So I yeeted myself across the street into this mysterious little spot called Just Chill Creamery.
At first, I thought I was walking into an abandoned blockbuster. Place was EMPTY. I legit had a Scooby-Doo moment like, “Did I just trespass? Did they forget to flip the ‘open’ sign? Am I about to get haunted by a ghost that screams about lactose intolerance?”
But NO. Two absolute legends were behind the counter—friendly, smiling, ready to scoop my soul back to happiness. And then I saw it: Hershey’s ice cream. Now, listen. Some people clutch pearls at that. Me? I straight up salute. Birthday cake? Cotton candy? That’s not ice cream, that’s emotional support therapy disguised in a cone.
Prices? CHEF’S KISS. I ordered a “kid size” thinking I’d get a thimble of sadness. Nope. One glorious chunky scoop, enough to remind me why childhood obesity rates exist.
But THEN. Oh-ho-ho THEN. They pointed me toward the back. A secret lair. Another whole seating area—like Willy Wonka’s Airbnb. Funky chairs, bright tables, PINBALL MACHINES. My jaw dropped. Why is nobody talking about this place? Where are the crowds? The influencers? The TikTok dances? I was basically living in an undiscovered ice cream utopia while the peasants were still lined up at King Kone getting heatstroke in a parking lot.
So here’s the deal: if you roll up to King Kone and see a line that looks like you’re about to enter Disney World, do yourself a favor. Cross the street. Enter the void. Find Just Chill Creamery. Is it Michelin-star gelato flown in from Italy? No. But is it good? YES. Is it fast? YES. Is it secretly awesome? ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY.

1049 MacArthur Rd, WhitehallI have been a contributor to PK, and a volunteer in the cat and dog rooms for 2 years. I couldn't imagine a shelter that cares more for their animals, or cares for them better. We have only 3 paid managers, all of them very well qualified and professional. The rest of us are all volunteers, and all of us love the animals in our shelter and work hard to take care of their physical and emotional needs. We recently renovated our very old building, (the former Zimmerman's Market for long-term local residents), enabling us to provide even better care for our wards, and modernize our veterinary clinic. No matter how well we care for them, dogs especially become depressed and anxious the longer they remain in a shelter environment, so once/week I take a dog on an adventure to a local state park, giving them the best day of their lives. It's the best and most rewarding thing I've ever done, bar none. It provides them with the opportunity to just go out and be a dog, and gives their emotions a lift. If you are thinking of adopting a pet, please give one of our dogs, cats, bunnies or guinea pigs a look. As one of our posters says, "You won't change the world by adopting a shelter animal, but for that one animal their life will be changed forever". As a side note, we have thoroughly investigated the very negative review posted by Brett W, and no one at PK knows this person, and there was no cat euthanized at PK under these circumstances. We'd appreciate very much if Brett W would contact us to clarify our understanding.
