“This is our go-to place to shop for gifts for our Youth Group students. They have a wide variety of options, more novelties and gift items than you could ever imagine and they still even have a CD section. The staff is incredible, most notably Arianna and Corey, who take great care of the store.”

“A wonderful surprise and one of the highlights of our trip to Newport.

I stopped in expecting to browse for a few minutes and ended up spending much longer exploring the shelves. The collection was thoughtfully curated and had far more depth than many used bookstores I have visited. There was a particularly strong selection of signed editions, first editions, and regional authors.

As a fan of Florida crime and coastal fiction, I was delighted to find books by Randy Wayne White, Carl Hiaasen, and Tom Corcoran, including signed copies and hard-to-find editions. I left with a first edition of Captiva by Randy Wayne White and a signed Tom Corcoran novel—exactly the kind of unexpected treasure that makes used bookstores so enjoyable.

The store strikes a great balance between being organized enough to browse effectively while still allowing for the thrill of discovery. Every shelf felt like it might contain something interesting.

If you love books, especially signed copies, first editions, mysteries, maritime fiction, or simply the experience of hunting for unexpected finds, leave yourself more time than you think you'll need. I certainly wish I had.

A true gem in Newport.”

“The selection of books is diverse. The quality of the used books I saw was quite impressive - I purchased a 60 year old textbook that looks almost pristine. There's also a display of merch from the Unemployed Philosopher's Guild, which instantly adds tremendous appeal. The prices are competitive- we spent less than $7 and came away with two books and a really cute set of fridge magnets. The store itself is bright, well laid out, and tidy. The staff are friendly and professional - they're made sure we were attended to without being overly present, and they offered to special order something we couldn't find.My favorite part of the experience, however, was Fred. We love Fred. Please say hi to him for us.”

“A perfect shop to visit for Catholic and Christian gifts, books, rosaries, statues, and jewelry. Volunteer operated and all profits go to the St Vincent de Paul Society which serves the poor and the elderly.”

“Awesome but make sure you allow for plenty of time because making decisions in here is difficult and the checkout process is a little slower than normal. No big deal Just know to leave time and don't cut it close to something else you need to be at.”

“Wakefield books is a pleasant surprise to find on our vacation. We shopped around and found many Goodreads, knowledgeable staff, large selection, and great recommendations. Make this a wonderful bookstore for you to stop in and check out.”
