“Grasmere is a one of a kind boutique in Bristol. Just walking into the store you feel like you are walking in to “ Forrest workshop” almost. There is so many different and unique items to browse. Whether it is jewelry, hats, dresses, pottery, or candles there is so much to see. The owners were also very friendly and can answer any questions you may have”

“I visited Whitworth while in Newport over Thanksgiving, and even though I don’t live here, I have to say it’s my new favorite boutique! It’s a beautifully curated store and I fell in love with almost everything I tried on. The owner was so kind, and I felt comfortable and welcomed the entire time I was there, even as I was being indecisive trying on different things. “We were overwhelmed as nothing fit my husband! Went here and they made it so easy & painless. The father knows immediately what size will fit you & nails it! They are on top of everything too, the daughter will take you around and suggest anything you might have forgotten! “This winter has been brutal, and it's not done with us yet. I've gone to two Home Depots looking for insulated gloves. I've looked for them at Walmart, too. No luck, all sold out.
I called Rocky's Ace Hardware in Fall River, hoping they'd have some. No. But...one of their employees told me that Carter's Clothing, off Plymouth Ave, next to McDonald's, was where he'd purchased his.
I drove over to have a look...I was dumbfounded! They had an incredible selection of both men's and women's insulated gloves...of all types--for shoveling, skiing, general wear...I felt like I'd landed in heaven.
I bought not one, but two different types of insulated gloves--far surpassing the quality of a pair I recently gave to someone else who needed them more than I did.
There's so much more great gear to be found at Carter's. I don't understand why they're not doing a better job of advertising--their parking lot was empty, yet their shelves were overflowing...with boots, gloves, scarves, socks--pants, shirts...you get the picture.
Best of all, their prices were reasonable. Whereas Amazon had a several-day wait for delivery, and Walmart noted 3+ days to get theirs...I walked right in, found two great pairs, and was out in less than fifteen minutes...and the staff were incredibly helpful, too.
I have no affiliation with Carter's, but I'm so impressed with them that I plan to return and get my clothing and other needs there. I do hope they do better advertising, as they certainly deserve more business.”
“Nothing but good things to say.I stopped by the shop while visiting Newport and picked up 3 great looking shirts. When I got home I noticed the shirts were a little small and needed to size up. I reached out and got a response almost instantly telling me to send them back for an exchange free of charge despite not having my receipt. Jeff Marlowe was super helpful and responsive, would recommend anyone to check out what they have to offer!”

My family not only got some great gear to use sailing and day to day, but our experience was memoriable Virginia, was amazing, she was well versed in all of the products, was very helpful with my wife as she was selecting vests and other gear. “I have had shirts and hoodies made here several times and have always loved the final product. The staff is very friendly; Anne is especially helpful with the design process, she will sketch something up right there and then and send you a few proofs within a day for your approval. The shirts were done quickly and once I arrived to pick them up, they were packed up and even delivered to my car by Andrew (one of the owners). Great service and quality products! Will be going back for more.”

“One thing I like about Newport is that they really have unique merchandise in many of the shops. In an age where "good shopping" is sort of moot if you live in New York or, duh, have the internet, this is one place where you actually can find some unusual items. Royal Male has a lot of Barbour and St. James clothes, but also high quality clothing from smaller manufacturers. The best reason to shop there, though, is that the two guys who are usually in the Mary St. location actually know clothing . Yes, they want to sell you pieces, but they know their inventory, they know how clothes are supposed to fit, they have some idea if a color compliments your complexion, and they won't let you leave unless something looks good on you. That's a vanishing skill, and it's priceless. Stop in. My wife (yes, they have women's clothes) and I always do, every time we visit Newport.”

“This boutique has such a great variety of unique clothing and accessories. The owner Elaine exudes enthusiasm for fashion and making sure her customers have the best experience while shopping. The price points are a bit high- don’t expect a bargain. But you will get personal shopping/styling and leave feeling like it was worth the spend. The store has great high end denim brands and lots of nice boutique labels. The seasonal sweaters are super cute. Give them a follow on socials- love their fun reels!!”
