They are always so attentive and willing to do whatever they can to make sure you and your pets are cared for. Seriously the kindest staff ever and we're so grateful for them.”

With their growth, I have to say every Dr there I love. They are not only there to help with the best care for your pet but also to help you through what is advice for yourself to be able to make your own decision. “My pup Valak destroyed his knee. At 3 years old and extremely athletic I went for a consult at Big River. It was clearly explained which method would be the best fit and why by Dr Cardosa. A TPLO surgery was done and went very well. My pup is a shy guy yet at each visit he LOVED the staff because they met him where he was at. Now at 9 weeks post op I couldn't be happier! “Highly responsive to the needs of the local region regarding animal adoptions and care. Also, very active for such a small organization in supporting the area and the animals it cares for. I am concerned about the one negative review which seems as though the reviewer might have been complaining about the town's dog park which really has nothing to do with the Stand Up For Animals organization or its personnel and it sounds like he may have been in the wrong place with his comments and his bag of broken glass.”

“My elderly Frenchie was stricken with a sudden and very severe illness the evening of Labor Day while we were on our annual beach vacation in the area. It was pretty clear his final day had come. The next morning, Turco was the closest animal hospital with the earliest opening time. I showed up with him, distraught and emotional, right at 8 am. Not a regular patient and of course with no appointment. Devon K, a Client Service Representative and the sweetest, most empathetic person I have encountered in a long time, listened intently to my story, disappeared in back for a minute or two, and emerged to tell me, "we can take you." He escorted us to a nearby treatment room, where Dr. Mack examined the old guy, helped me come to terms with what I already knew had to happen, and, assisted by her vet tech, euthanized my old pal with the utmost care and gentleness. I can't say enough about how these folks made this heart-wrenching experience a little better, just by being emotionally supportive and present for us. Special thanks to Devon for being so sweet and helpful when we needed it most.”

“This place is amazing! I have had four dogs over the years and they have all gone to Wood River Animal Hospital. I would not take them anywhere else. Dr. Schuelke and Dr. Fischer are awesome, the vet techs are awesome. They are all very compassionate about the animals that they care for and that is evident every time my pets have gone there. We live on an island, and it isn’t easy to get to the vet. They deliver our meds right to the boat for us. They check in with you, too.When I was there for an appointment one day, an elderly gentleman was worried about bringing his cat to the vet twice daily for some treatment.
