“Picked up the car in Charlotte, NC and returned it in Charleston SC. We were able to pick out the vehicle we wanted from the class of car we reserved. I had heard that you are more likely to get in an accident in a white car, whether it is true or not, I bum out when I get assigned a white car. I checked in online, so was able to walk right out to the lot, a friendly face directed us to our car options. The car we got was brand new (385 miles) and fun to drive and experience all the new features. Both the checking in and return of the car could not have gone any smoother. The Enterprise location was at the airport in both locations, so we did not need to take a shuttle. At the Charleston airport there was a bit of a walk, but not bad. The gentleman who greeted us when we returned the car, was super friendly (at 4 am) and accommodating. I thought we were just going to put the keys in a drop box. We forgot to fill the car prior to return, the amount charged per gallon was only slightly higher than the going rate We needed pick up and drop off at different locations, when I shopped around there were not a lot of options. Enterprise was the lowest of all of them. Overall a great experience.”

“My wife and I were traveling through charleston and had car trouble. So that we were not stranded during the repairs we went with gateway to have a vehicle in the meantime , the service from the owner was excellent at gateway, and he really took good care of us in a bad situation, I highly recommend this place over the typical chain car rental companies because we called the big names first and they were unhelpful and did not really care about us personally. 5 stars all the way , very highly recommended!”

“The rental car company didn’t actually have any cars available when we went to check in. We booked through Priceline so it was unfortunate and with limited inventory just bad timing. The location is challenging to get to/park and wasn’t anything special.Dee, however was fantastic! She nicely chased us down outside after we left, once something showed in the system (after telling us we’d have to come back in the afternoon when more cars became available). She then worked her magic adjusting dates to get us the best deal. We ended up with a nicer car than originally planned. Her customer service was outstanding! Give that woman a raise! We’d be back because of her”

“I booked a rental truck with this location before I saw the reviews and was a little nervous about the experience I might have but I had absolutely no issues getting my rental. The lady at the desk was nice and worked quickly. I can see why many people leave low ratings just for the fact the "reservation" is not actually guaranteed, but that is the fault of the company and it sets the service personnel up for failure. My main issue with this specific location is it difficult to find. It is located inside the Citadel Mall but there is no signage outside to tell you where to go, I just went in the closest entrance to where I saw a bunch of Budget trucks parked and found it that way. They could definitely make it easier to find. I was also concerned that there is no official review of the truck's condition once it is in your possession. Personnel did not review it with me and there is no online portal to post pictures of the condition you received it in, which is an unnecessary liability for the customer, they could blame damage you for damage you did not cause.”

“Given the large number of 1 star reviews, I would just like to add that my experiences have not been the same. I have rented from here a handful of times over the years, including recently, and have always been treated kindly and professionally. I have also never had any issues picking up, returning, or with any of the cars that I rented.”
