Every time I walk into this South State Bank location, I feel like I’m visiting family. The ladies here and the one cool guy too ? have been consistently kind, genuine, and full of light since the very first time I came over a year ago. They always ask about my kids, offer lollipops, share laughs, and treat me like more than just an account — they treat me like a human being.
Today, I had the honor of meeting Tina, the branch manager, and she’s everything I imagined: thoughtful, warm, and truly invested in her team and customers. I bragged on her staff, and they proudly introduced her — and rightly so. When a great leader is in the building, you can feel it in the culture.
To the entire staff: you’ve been a quiet part of my journey, and I’ll never forget the way y’all have made me feel every visit. I said it in person and I’ll say it here — I can’t keep y’all a secret forever. The world needs to know how excellent this team really is.

She put me in touch with Gary Wertz who resolved all of the issues I was experiencing in a matter of minutes. He also took an interest in getting feedback to improve their business. I am really impressed with their drive to fix customer concerns. While I wish I hadn't had to resort to a negative online review to get the assistance I needed, these two really came through! I am pleased to continue to be a customer at Security Federal Bank. I would encourage anyone who has concerns about their banking experience to escalate these concerns upwards- there are people at this bank who care and will help.Original Post: I am only giving this branch 1 star because 0 is not an option. This used to be a great bank, but now they will use any opportunity available to add fees to your account and make it difficult to utilize their services then blame you for the issues. I already switched to primarily using online banking a few years ago due to significantly better internet rates and only maintained a local bank for convenience. However, the atrocious customer service I have received recently from this bank has demonstrated it's not worth it. My advice is to take your money elsewhere!”

They had aided me since day one always being accessible to my every need. Wither it's returning phone calls and responding to emails. “I had a second-generation member call me with an issue. I was able to reach out and get someone to reach out to the member. This person was Karen, from the Contact Center, she reached out herself to the member and was able to assist. This member had been calling the 1-800 number but not being able to reach a live person and were very frustrated as they were on the road. Karen not only assisted them but help them understand how the 1-800 number worked. She also investigated and ensured the 1-800 number was working as it should. I appreciate Karen taking a hands-on approach to solve the issues and prevent the CU from potential losing a long-time member.”
