“I love that I have access to both gyms - whether I'm working (Sioux Falls) or at home (near Brookings) - and feel completely welcomed at both locations. Great staff and trainers!”

“Listening to a podcast from a strength coach I respect, I heard him say that his gym was probably one of the few in the world that made chalk and lifting belts available to its members. I heard that and thought, “Well, I know another one.”The Powershop does offer chalk and lifting belts for its members—as well as most other equipment you could want (see below). The membership prices are reasonable. Clientele generally keep to themselves and seem pretty respectful to me. I have no problem suggesting it to you as a worthwhile gym.[A larger note on equipment: Powershop has several (I think 5-6 fully equipped) power racks/Olympic lifting platforms (with bumper plates), a full selection of dumbbells and kettlebells from 3 to 80 lbs. each, CrossFit equipment, bikes (spinning, normal recumbent exercise bikes, one airbike), ellipticals, treadmills, isolation exercise machines, mats, a heavy bag, and probably some other things I don’t know about.]”

“Immediately after joining CrossFit Brookings, I felt at home and comfortable. Everyone is so welcoming and the coaches and owners truly care about all the members. They are wonderful about making sure everyone is doing the lifts and movements safely and correctly. I have been hitting PRs that I had been stuck on for a long time! ??? Love my CrossFit Fam!”

“My husband and I have been using Snap Fitness in Brookings for a few years. We both really enjoy this gym. It is very large and has a lot of equipment, as well as a good variety of machines. It is rare that the piece of equipment that you want to use is in use by someone else. I also really like that there are several somewhat secluded areas in the gym for things like abs, lifting light dumbells and stretching as I really don’t like doing these in the middle of a crowded gym. Overall we are very satisfied with Snap, we both are not super athletic but like to have a place to exercise in the winter and we have never felt out of place here. Would recommend for anyone living in Brookings!”

“I guess it's a good time to write a review. I've been going to Jim for the past two months. Jim has the majority of cardio and bodybuilding machines, and when I joined, it was not overcrowded. After the spring break, Jim was very overcrowded between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. It is better to workout between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.You can get a locker to store your pre-workout, post-workout, and supplement items if you work out often. Something I Noticed Here: Students have been using steroids and supplements that contain steroids. They Call It Natural—don't follow others, keep your own diet, and stay consistent.”

“I love this gym. I also am a huge fan of Heather. This is the best gym in town (probably the state), and accessing it is easier than ever. Heather is great about getting in touch and making it easy to workout, regardless of your schedule. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here. I wish more gyms were as clean, functional, and friendly as this one. 14/10 stars from me!”
