βThe dollar general store in Charleston has really improved since the last time I was in there. The store has new managers and I just have to say they are absolutely doing an amazing job. The store is clean and even smelled good. I was very impressed.β
βExcellent breakfast! This place has the best breakfast in all of Cleveland and surrounding areas, in my humble opinion. A hidden gem! Food is always fresh and the bacon biscuit is so so good. I highly recommend this place if you haven't tried it. The place has a gas station but it's not gas station food as they serve real food there!
Every time I've been there before they open, there were always people waiting outside on the place to open so they can order breakfast. It's that good!β
βNo problem with the store, only wish there were more steak/chicken options and had more in stock. Otherwise great store! My wife and I can't find better grapes, blueberries, or milk anywhere elseβ
βBad service in bakery. Promised me a cake ordered on the 29th of September to be picked up the next day after lunch. Call me the next day to tell me they donβt have a decorator. I offered to pick one out of the cooler , buy the kit and decorate it myself. They said they couldnβt do that. I was up a tree. My granddaughterβs birthday was Sunday evening. I went to the one on McGrady Drive and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. She even apologized for Food Cityβs bakery on Ocoee Crossing. I told her it was not her fault. Never shop this bakery again. After speaking with Lafonda on Monday September 30, 2025 she explained that sometimes they do not have a cake decorator. Itβs sad. I really liked the cake I picked. I settled for something else from another Food City.Thank you Lafonda. You are the best!β
βGood store. Convenient. Had a good sale on steaks. We were looking for T bones, but there wasnβt much of a selection. My wife asked the butcher if they had more in the back? They brought out a stack of packaged steaks. They were priced about $5 per pound lower than the competition.
They were delicious.

βStopped by Stoney's today for lunch. We had BBQ sandwiches and they were absolutely delicious. The sandwich is large and price is very reasonable. We met the owner, his mother, and grandmother! What a great family!!! We are new to Polk County and we were just checking out different spots in the area. This was our first visit but will not be our last!!! Great food, great atmosphere and great people!!β
βOur experience was good. The place was extremely clean, which was a good sign. The service was exceptional, and the food was authentic Mexican. The tacos were my favorite, and I also ordered the 'Torta de Carne Asada,' which was delicious. I did have to add some salt to my food, but that was fine with me. The taco tortillas needed to be dipped more into the oil because they were a little dry. Their horchata drink is more Central American than Mexican, but it is still delicious. For two people, I paid around $45, which was a little pricey but worth it.β
βAn amazing store with great staff. Always greeting customers. Great prices. Loved getting quarters from them, always willing to help. Better than most. Especially Tiffany, really helpful, always going out of her way to help people. Deserves more than she hasβ

βFood City is hard to beat for consistency and quality. Some items are more pricey than elsewhere but I try to stick to the sales and the store brands. Friday, Saturday only sales are usually very good compared to typical grocery prices these days.β
βThe Dollar General on Georgetown road, the staff is wonderful they would do anything to help you they're very friendly and you actually get to know them. If you were seeing this dollar general before the new manager took up for it was horrible I would have had it being that girl walking in and taking over that store it was so just messed up! They do try very hard to keep it clean and the parking lot's always clean I mean it is a really clean Dollar General and I appreciate that. My only problem is and it's just not that Dollar General it's all of them here in Cleveland and it's actually the company itself they run ads you know sell ads and stuff but then none of the Dollar generals have that product and you know stock when you go to get it that week That's very aggravating also every time I go to one and I mean all of them here in Cleveland it shows one price but when you go and pay for it it's actually more and that's very frustrating because sometimes people are budgeted and they are walking there so like $10 and they think that's what they're spending and it comes out to be four or $5 more that's a problem. that yes I love my Dollar General up here and the girls are fabulous it's the company their self that's not that I'm happy with. Thank you girls!β
βUpdated. I now get all my meat from them, the carne asada is delicious when you get the seasoned beef. They have a large selection of veggies from Mexican style foods. Love this place!β
βI was just in this store and experienced a medical emergency and the staff was wonderful and very helpful.....they called EMS to assist and there was also another female customer who assisted me also....the employees & other customers were VERY helpful and tried to get me help as well as trying to get me further assistance and help me stay calm ....Thank You Dollar General Staff & Bradley County EMS for all your assistance in my time of need. βI have been going to the Dollar General in Athens for about 2 months now. Every time I go in there the young guy follows me around the store. I guess he thinks I am stealing. Or he wants a date !!!! I have kids older than he is. I am probably good 40 years older than him. But I wonder what this boy would do if he actually did see someone stealing? He canβt put his hands on a customer, and he only weighs 150 lbs . I donβt think Athens City is going to come tires smoking or guns blazing over dollar store merchandise. I wonder if he has thought bout that? A store wrongly accuses a customer of Theft, thatβs one heck of a liability. And itβs so annoying getting followed, every time I turn the corner, heβs there. Not very good at being a loss prevention dude. Those cats at Walmart could teach him a few things. They r the prosβ
βIm not sure what happend in the last month or so but this store ( Michigan Ave )) has done a complete 360! Its organized, always stocked and the employees are all super nice! Very impressed.β

βGreat place to shop, if it's not too busy. Sometimes it's slammed! Shelves are usually stocked, but they could stock more Cherry Coke and chocolate dunkin' stix. Used to have a hot girl that worked there, but she disappeared. ?β
βThis was the first store my mom let me go in to pay for things by myself as a little girl. I grew up, worked here and still shop here for cigarettes and Always look forward to running into friends from our hometown for short or long chats. :)β
βGood place to pick up stuff you need. They have rearranged the store so finding things is harder. Some items are getting limited choices. Pick your time as it may get crowded at peak times.β

βIβve not had any issues. I usually just go for an item or two. I will say Dollar General does not treat its employees well. So keep that in mind if youβre upset with an employee. Thereβs even documentaries on the companyβs behavior. Very low staffed. Everybody has bad days. Keep that in mind.β
βIt's definitely just your standard/normal Dollar General....I have to say that I've experienced some ruder than just the normal "I'm having a bad day" type of employees quite often. The worst one being an actual manager ?? I haven't actually been treated so badly by a manager in my life at any store for that matter...or anyone at an actual DG either. Not sure if that particular manager still holds employment there or not. The incident referenced that I experienced was around December sometime of last year ? but I thought it was important and something worth mentioning tho...β

I walked into Piggly Wiggly needing change for an event. The staff had no problem exchanging my $20s for $10s which is more than I can say for the credit union down the street that refused to help me.
If a grocery store can handle a simple cash exchange with a smile while the banks turn visitors away, that says everything about who actually cares about the community. Thank you for saving the day for my event! I'll be shopping here every time I'm in town.β
