The Fire Museum of Memphis is a non-profit organization that exists to promote the education of fire and life safety, to reduce injury, life-loss, and property-loss related to fire, and to recognize and preserve the heritage of the fire service and its contribution to the community.
In 1998 we opened our doors. The mission was to use the historic Fire Station #1 to teach fire prevention and safety. Since then, the museum has aided Memphis in greatly reducing the number of deaths related to fires. Without the work done by the Museum, many more people would not be with us today. Hundreds of thousands of visitors have walked through the museum and learned valuable lessons on staying safe in a fire.
