?5/20/2025: A beloved cat friend fell off of a cat tree last night. Her leg was twisted with notable pain. Within 20 minutes of calling Sparta Veterinary Services, Dr. Colwell called back with excellent compassionate advice. We took direction and our friend was stabilized for the night. Arriving at the hospital as they opened this morning our friend was seen and treated immediately. By lunchtime our friend had her broken leg set and we were instructed to pick her up at 4pm.
?We have rescued more than 20 cats and dogs since moving to north Putnam County in 2005. In my opinion Sparta Veterinary Services is the best animal hospital in our region.
7/13 a 5 star experience with our 15+ year old dog friend today.

3069 McMinnville Hwy, SpartaToday was my first visit to Bluegrass Veterinary Clinic with my dog Rosemary, and I truly cannot say enough good things about our experience. Rosemary has a significant history of abuse and trauma, and unfortunately, she has had some very poor experiences with veterinary care in the past. As her owner, and a professional Dog Trainer and Behaviorist, I am incredibly protective of her emotional well-being. Choosing care for my dogs is never something I take lightly. From the moment we met Dr. Makenzie Hoffmeyer, I was so grateful. She was so incredibly kind, patient, caring, and deeply respectful of Rosemary’s fear and boundaries. Instead of rushing through the appointment, she spent the entirety of our time sitting on the floor with us, moving completely at Rosemary’s pace. She consistently checked in with me about Rosemary’s needs and preferences, making sure we were both comfortable every step of the way. It was one of the most compassionate veterinary experiences I’ve ever had. Dr. Hoffmeyer’s slow, kind approach and empathy made all the difference. For the first time in a long time, I left a vet appointment feeling hopeful instead of stressed. I truly look forward to continuing Rosemary’s care with Dr. Hoffmeyer, and can’t thank her and the entire staff at Bluegrass Veterinary Clinic enough for such a wonderful, respectful, and positive care experience. I look forward to referring my training clients, family and friends to Bluegrass Veterinary Clinic! They have earned our trust completely.

At Happy Trails Brewery, 38 E Bockman Wy, SpartaOutstanding pub! We had the Fried Green Tomato Bacon burger and triple cheese burger. Both burgers were great.
The local beer was great as well, loved the coffee stout.
We will come back anytime we are in the area.
Lots of locals were here as soon as the doors opened so you know it’s good.

1037 Austin Rd, SpartaThe absolute best shrimp tacos of my life! The best cooked shrimp that I've ever ate, and I have lived coast to coast and ate a ton of shrimp in my lifetime! Perfect in all marks and my thanks to the chef! I heard an all new waiting staff has now started working! So I plan on another taco Tuesday visit soon!
