“There are two ladies that have the best customer service in the world!!! Rose and the other young lady that worked on Sat 9/30/23 the morning shift. I have never experienced such a pleasant experience in any other dollar general, I live closer to a different one, but from yesterday going forward I will only go to that one off New York and park row . I did get the ladies name , but unfortunately I can’t find it now. I hope the general manager sees this and knows those two young ladies makes that store worth the gas and time just driving there. Despite the usual chaos orbiting a store that sells snacks, tools, and regret in one aisle, the employees are genuinely friendly, competent, and unfazed. Strong Waffle House energy in the best way. Polite, helpful, and clearly capable of shutting down nonsense without drama. Shelves are stocked, service is fast, and you somehow feel safer than expected buying paper towels at night.”
“Who doesn't love 5 below. Firewheel mall is in a great location. It has everything your looking for from gifts, stocking staffers, classroom supplies, art, toys, pets, computer and electronics. It has a section for workout gear. The cups are cute for collecting. The shirts, hair ties, bathroom accessories and toiletries. Its has an elaborate candy section with so much to choose from. The store much have done its happiness research. We are attracted to bright colors, things in abundance and round things. Like balls usually placed at the entrance. 5 below brings a little joy to us all just by existing. What an igenginuitive concept. Its a value dollar store but for $5 instead of $1. The marketing and aisle arrangement is enticing to the shopper. The product placement is artistically balanced across the store to naturally keep shoppers eyes bouncing to assist impulse purchasing. Shoppers are sure to see every object big to small. Well done 5 below. Kudos. Bouncing Round bright balls, bubbles, balloons, and all the bright lovely things. The staff is kind always greeting at the door, asking if shoppers are in need of help. The registers are quick, and self checkout is lit up with the window natural lighting, and bright white covering of all the registers. The bag size options are a good closing touch to the experience. I know 5 below gives back to causes, as their is always an option to give a little at checkout. Parking isn't too much of a hassle using a spill over into the Barnes and noble area. Im already thinking about my next 5 below trip. What does my class need. Marker daddy's, paper organizers, some new gel pens. Some new dolls for the dolll house.or my favorite a few prizes for the prize bin or class store.”

“I visited this store last week and immediately notice a change. No boxes were on the floors. The store was clean. I was greeted when I walked in the store . The employees were actually working. I was able to locate the items I was looking for. Surprised to find them on the shelves. I must say I can now start shopping here again. “While similar to TJmaxx and Ross, you'll find brands here that you won't anywhere else. Labels from big box, department and online stores at the best prices you can find. The occasional luxury items are competitive with the RealReal. Go when you have time to spend but that time is usually worth it if looking for clothes. I've had success finding good quality jeans, dressy casual and athletic; women's suit jackets are usually nice but limited. Home goods and shoes are more iffy. Before you fall in love with something check it over very well, I've seen slashed items, tench coats with missing cuff doo-dads, etc. They have changing rooms. If the signs and organization seem confusing ask a sales clerk for a quick overview, they're very nice.”

Burlington Stores is giving its locations a major makeover. The off-price retailer has already transformed about half of its 1,115 stores and plans to complete the redesign across its entire fleet by the end of 2026. The company calls this makeover "Store Experience 2.0." Gone are the cramped aisles and confusing layouts that once defined discount shopping. Instead, Burlington is creating wider walkways, organized sections, and clearer signs to help shoppers find what they need.
Dollar General is adding more of its private label food offerings to stores, following similar moves by big retailers like Walmart and Amazon as store brands keep growing in popularity. The store is launching new items under its own labels, including ice cream, cinnamon rolls, coffee syrups, and salad dressings. The move comes as store brand sales reached $271 billion in 2024, up nearly 4% from 2023.
Daiso, the beloved Japanese retailer known for its variety of affordable household goods, is expanding further in the U.S. market. This week, the company is celebrating the grand openings of three new stores in Texas and California. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Daiso debuted an 8,000-sq.-ft. location in Beaumont, Texas, at Dowlen Towne Center, as well as two Southern California stores - a 6,319-sq.-ft. space in Van Nuys at Mid Valley Marketplace and a 5,200-sq.-ft. store in Westminster at Westminster Center.
Dollar Tree is moving into 170 former 99 Cents Only stores, marking a big shift in the discount retail landscape. The company announced Wednesday it's taking over leases in Arizona, California, Nevada, and Texas, with plans to reopen the stores under its own brand as early as fall 2024.
Ollie's Bargain Outlet just landed a great deal of its own, winning a $14.6 million bankruptcy auction for 11 former 99 Cents Only store locations across Texas. The discount retail chain pounced after 99 Cents Only abruptly went out of business in March, shuttering all 371 of its stores in California, Arizona, Texas, and Nevada. Ollie's quickly made an opening "stalking horse bid" to grab over a dozen of the empty properties.
