The Harry Ransom Center is a free museum and rare book library at The University of Texas at Austin. It is an internationally renowned treasure and an absolute must-visit. Highlights include the Gutenberg Bible and the First Photograph, which are jaw-dropping staples always on view. The Center also offers a slate of special exhibitions throughout the year. A recent Saturday Night Live exhibit was hilarious and perfectly curated, with props, scripts, and costumes. It was well worth the trip and fascinating. The Reading Room offers public access to manuscripts and rare books for research. There is a small gift shop in the lobby. The staff is friendly, and parking is located across the street. It is highly recommended.
This museum holds the most interesting exhibits. I was there for the Robert DeNiro and the Saturday Night Live exhibits. Those exhibits were free to attend, the Harry Ransom Center is a beautiful gallery to view art and current exhibits.
